Proof that you shouldn't eat at the wheel, he is distracted and runs down a woman on the road. The good news? She was already dead. The bad news? She's a zombie. Bitten in the confrontation, he later crashes his truck in the city near the police station, almost killing Leon and Claire in the inferno.

Answer: Gas station

Mizoil Gas Station is located in rural Arklay County, USA. After a first encounter with some zombies, whoever you're playing as, Leon or Claire, will be rescued by the other. The pair escape in an abandoned police car and head for Raccoon City.

Answer: Tyrant

Mr X is actually one of several Tyrant bioweapons in the T-03 series, presumably sent by Umbrella to eliminate witnesses and recover the G-Virus sample. Silent, gargantuan and incredibly strong, the best thing to do is avoid this menace.

The Tyrant patrols the halls of RCPD, seeking out Claire and Leon. He's indestructible until scripted events later in the game, so fighting him is generally a waste of ammunition. But you do get a trophy for shooting his hat off, so there's that!

Answer: GM 79 Grenade Launcher

This Grenade Launcher is only available in Claire's scenarios. She can also retrieve the Submachine Gun from the S.T.A.R.S. office. The Shotgun and Magnum are available only to Leon in the Safety Deposit room and S.T.A.R.S. office respectively.

If you don't manage to pick it up at the police station, it's available later in the NEST Security Room.

Answer: Ada Wong

This is the first time in the "Resident Evil" chronology that Leon meets Ada. She poses as an FBI agent when they first encounter each-other but eventually admits to being a mercenary, hired to secure a sample of the G-Virus.

Ada is a fascinating character who shifts between ally and antagonist throughout the course of the series - opportunistic and cold by nature but with a soft spot for Leon and capable of moments of valour.

Apart from the original "Resident Evil 2" and its remake, she appears in mainline entries "Resident Evil 4" and "Resident Evil 6", as well as several spinoffs.

Answer: Gun shop

When Leon and Ada come across Kendo in his shop, he holds Leon at gunpoint, trying to protect his infected daughter. When Ada intervenes and insists that the daughter has to be terminated before she zombifies, a standoff ensues. Robert eventually backs down and agrees to deal with the situation himself, shooting his daughter and then himself off-screen. A sad story.

One of the easier codes to remember as it's a word and not just a random series of letters. It's also one of the easiest to obtain as it's written on a whiteboard in the Records Room, in big letters. Inside the locker, you'll find ammunition for one of Leon or Claire's unique weapons.

Answer: Chemical Flamethrower

As they say, 'kill it with fire'. Produced by Plant 43 in the NEST facility, these tough enemies can be temporarily incapacitated with well-placed shots to their yellow bulbs. But they can only be permanently put down with flame weapons or very powerful shots, which makes the Chemical Flamethrower perfect for the job, unless you want to burn through all your Magnum ammunition.

Answer: Five

William Birkin just won't go down will he? You first encounter him in the Machinery Room, again as you're escaping the sewers and for what feels like the last time in the Bioreactors Room in NEST. But no. He attacks again as you and Sherry take a lift to the surface and only after you meet Leon on the Freight Train do you finally take him out.

The freight train section is only unlocked in scenario B, after you've already completed the story with one character. Leon can fight 'G' four times in total, facing Tyrant instead of 'G' stage four.

Answer: HUNK

Players assume the role of recurring "Resident Evil" character, Umbrella Special Services operative HUNK, in this hard-as-nails scenario, which will push players' skills to the limit.

Though you start out with an array of weapons and supplies, it's easy to burn through these quickly as the game bombards you with hordes of enemies. This culminates with Mr X giving chase as you make your way from the sewers all the way to your extraction point outside the RCPD. If you can complete this within the time limit, you are truly worthy of HUNK's moniker, the 'Grim Reaper'!

Complete this and you also unlock the amusing 'Tofu Survivor' mode, in which you play as a giant, sentient slab of tofu, armed with only a knife - arguably the most difficult mode in the game.

Answer: Serpent

Each of these medallions has their own statue, which are dotted around the police station. All three are needed to open up a secret passage that leads out of the station and they each require a combination to retrieve. The clues to these combinations can be found in the notebook belonging to Elliott Edward, the ill-fated cop who loses the lower half of his body in a zombie attack.

Answer: Taxidermy

Arguably even more grotesque than the bioweapons in the game, Brian Irons maintained a public image of philanthropy and competent law enforcement but this was all a façade.

Irons became heavily involved with the Umbrella Corporation and accepted bribes to cover up their activities, even taking charge of the city's orphanage to hide the use of child test subjects. The array of dead animals in his office is just a taster of his obscene habits, having killed and subsequently covered up the murders of many young women. He then removed their organs and stuffed them as he would the animals in his collection.

This monster gets what's coming to him, as his is implanted by 'G' and dies in front of Claire.

Answer: Mayor

Poor Katherine ends up as one of Irons' victims in the main story but 'The Ghost Survivors' gives players a chance to turn the tables. Killing Irons in self-defence, the player starts out in the city orphanage and must make their way to the RCPD cells to rescue reporter Ben Bertolucci. Watch out for the Pale head zombies on your way, they're tough to take down.

Answer: William Birkin

As Claire and Sherry are escaping the orphanage, they are pursued by Mr X, who corners them in an elevator. Enter 'G' (William Birkin). By this point, William has almost transformed beyond recognition, though Sherry still seems to recognise her father.

In an impressive display of power, he tears a huge chunk from Mr X's torso, killing him permanently and jumps on the elevator, causing it to plummet to the sewer level.

Answer: USB Dongle Key

Using the S.T.A.R.S. badge, players can unlock the display cabinet at the bottom of the stairs in the underground facility. This contains a long barrel for the Magnum if you play as Leon or a silencer for the Submachine Gun if you play as Claire.

If you examine the badge in the inventory, a USB connection pops out which you can use with the S.T.A.R.S. Office computer. This opens the armoury, allowing Leon access to the Magnum or Claire to the Submachine Gun.
