"Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" removed all combat from the game, opting for "Nightmare Sequences" where Harry must run to a safe location from the Raw Shocks. When that location is reached, the game's world changes back and the Raw Shocks disappear. Sometimes, these sequences appear in the middle of vast areas, such as forests, where it can be difficult to find the safe location.

Michelle sings "Always On My Mind" when encountered in the school's gym during the game. The song appears on the game's soundtrack where the vocals are provided by a series regular, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.

Like most other "Silent Hill" games, "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" also contains a UFO ending. It cannot be gotten during your first play-through of the game, however. It is achieved by taking photos of thirteen UFO's hidden around the town of Silent Hill after calling a certain number on Harry's cell phone.

In this ending, Cheryl becomes convinced her father was abducted by aliens and eventually turns into Mira, the dog that has become synonymous with the UFO endings, Dr. Kaufmann turns into an alien and James Sunderland interrupts part of the session.
