quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Possibly the most famous ship in all of "Star Wars," what is the name of Han Solo's ship? (Note: I want the actual name, not the various pseudonyms it's gone under.)

Answer: Millennium Falcon

The Falcon is a YT-1300 freighter armed with concussion missiles and two quad laser cannons. However, its superior firepower is nothing in comparison to its speed and navicomputer which allowed the Falcon to make the Kessel Run in record time. *SPOILER ALERT* The Falcon, in the current timeline, is being repaired by Lando after being shot by the capital ship Anakin Solo.
2. Obi-Wan Kenobi can be seen flying this type of starfighter in "Revenge of the Sith." It features S-foils and a distinctively TIE style cockpit. Which of these choices is his fighter (that was later destroyed onboard Grievous' flagship)?

Answer: Eta-2 Actis Interceptor

All of these are Old Republic-era fighters; only the CloakShape was not extensively used by the Galactic Republic. The Delta-7 is a fighter that Obi-Wan piloted, but only in "Attack of the Clones". The Alpha-3 was primarily a clone-piloted fighter.
3. Three of these ships carry gravity well generators. Which one does not carry gravity well generators?

Answer: INS Chimaera

Yes, two of these ships do belong to the New Republic, though the gravity well generator is an Imperial designer. The Mon Mothma and Elegos A'Kla belong to a new class of Star Destroyers whose generators are located within the ship. The Aggregator was an Immobilizer-418 Interdictor cruiser under Admiral Teradoc.

The Chimaera was the flagship of Gilad Pellaeon. It did not carry generators, but did have a cloaking shield.
4. The frigate Redemption is an example of this ship. It is seen in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi". This ship was often used as a medical frigate or command ship for smaller fleets.

Answer: Nebulon-B Frigate

Look for clues in the question. I said "The frigate Redemption" not "the cruiser Redemption"! Thus, you have a 50-50 chance. Anyways, the Redemption served as the ship where Luke Skywalker received his mechanical hand. The Redemption was destroyed by the Second Death Star's superlaser.
5. This ship is the most iconic representation of the Empire. Dagger-shaped and triangular, it inspired fear in the hearts of everyone who encountered it, because they knew their lives were about to be cut short. What is it?

Answer: Star Destroyer

The Star Destroyer was produced by Kuat Drive Yards under the direction of Lira Wessex. It could carry up to 72 TIEs along with landing craft and ground assault vehicles. Weaponry included tractor beams, ion cannons, and turbolasers.
6. This ship was the flagship of the Rebel Navy at Endor. Commanded by Admiral Ackbar, it was the focus of Imperial attacks and the focus-er of Rebel attacks. What was it?

Answer: Home One

The Mon Casima is an Expanded Universe ship. I just made up Endurance on the spot; I don't know if it actually exists. The Liberty was the first ship destroyed by the Second Death Star. Home One was the cigar-shaped ship that survived through the whole battle.
7. The T-47 Airspeeder was used in battle by the Rebel Alliance. On which of these planets was it most famously used upon to delay the Imperial forces?

Answer: Hoth

The T-47 is also known as the Snowspeeder. It sported a nice tow cable and harpoon that allowed speeders to trip up the main Imperial force attacking Hoth. Pun intended.
8. Which of these is the flagship of the Confederacy?

Answer: Invisible Hand

The Saak'ak was destroyed by Anakin Skywalker at Naboo. The Mersel Kebir was a flagship, but of a small planetary fleet, not a whole government. The Prosperous was captured by Master Saesee Tiin and used to attack Confederacy ships at the Battle of Coruscant. The Invisible Hand was flat out destroyed when Anakin was forced to crash land it on Coruscant after said battle.
9. Incom Corporation designed this fighter, the most famous fighter of the Rebellion. Armed with four laser cannons and two torpedo launchers, it was crewed by one pilot and one droid. Which of these fighters was it?

Answer: X-wing

All of these appear during the movies, although B-wings and A-wings only appear in "Return of the Jedi." The X-wing helped destroy both Death Stars, first by Luke Skywalker, and second, by Wedge Antilles. In case you were wondering, B-wings carry three laser cannons and two blasters, along with torpedoes and ion cannons. A-wings carry missiles and two lasers. Y-wings carry two lasers, two ion cannons, as well as anything else you can stuff onto it.
10. Which of these is not a Star Dreadnaught?

Answer: Avenger

The Star Dreadnaught is the official name for the Super Star Destroyer, abbreviated to SSD. The Avenger was the command of Admiral Piett until he was transferred to the Executor. The Avenger was an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, armed (according to "Empire at War") with a proton beam laser type thing.
