Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Brawl" added a lot of new features to this already great series. One of the cooler new things is called a Final Smash. In order to use your characters final smash, you need to get a Smash Ball, what's unique about this item compared to others?

Answer: You need to destroy it to get it

Unlike all other items, in order to be able to use it, you must destroy it. Sometimes this is very annoying because you weaken it and then someone else comes in and just lays the final strike on it.

No, it doesn't avoid players, it just randomly moves around, although sometimes it'll seem like the smash ball doesn't like you and tries to get away.

Although it does give the player a new attack, this isn't unique, many other items do this too including: Fire Flowers, Beam Swords, Baseball Bats, Laser Guns and some others.
2. In the campaign, The Subspace Emissary, the last character to appear is Sonic. A lot of people were disappointed that he was only available for the final boss and thought he deserved a better entrance. Actually, there was a reason that Sonic didn't appear until the end, what was it?

Answer: Sonic was a last minute character

Believe it or not, the original plans for the game didn't even include Sonic! However a survey stated that Sonic was the most popular candidate for a brawl character, so as a last minute adjustment to the game, Sonic was added in!

There was no other place to put his entrance would have been a pathetic reason, there were plenty of places where the blue hedgehog could have shined!

Forgetting about Sonic would be pretty hard, considering there was a team of people making this game.
3. Which was the only playable character that did NOT turn into a statue in cut scenes within the story line? (Note: The first mission (Mario vs. Kirby) doesn't count because you had a choice of who died in that.)

Answer: Sonic

Not including characters not in the story line, they all did this!

Mario was actually the first one to transform when he was shot by a cannon in the arena.

Kirby only did this once, when Tabuu transformed everyone, except Sonic! Sonic didn't transform because he wasn't there, and obviously no one saved him because, well, they were all transformed!
4. Whose final smash is Light Arrow?

Answer: Zelda/Sheik

Zelda/Sheik use Light Arrow as their Final Smash; it's an arrow that goes in a straight line all the way across the stage, and if you're hit by it, you're basically a goner.

Link and Toon Link do both have the same Final Smash, but it's Triforce Slash, a move that traps an enemy, damages them and then in slow motion deals a devastating final blow.

Samus's Final Smash is Zero Laser, a move that sends out a huge blast of energy.

Pit's Final Smash is Palutena's Army, a move which calls many small angel warriors to the battle and then they ram into your opponents.

Final Smashes are a big asset to the game because they give your character a whole new move to consider, and also look awesome, knowing what every characters final smash is can be very important in deciding which character to use!
5. Which of these characters does NOT have a sword?

Answer: Samus

Samus has no sword (although Zero Suit Samus has a sword) but the other three actually do!

Link's sword is obvious, he always has it out!

Kirby's sword is a bit less relevant, but still noticeable, he uses it during his up special move. (Yes I consider that a sword...)

Ganondorf's sword is almost never visible, but it is there! One of his taunts causes him to pull a sword out and pose with it, my only question is why doesn't he use it to fight!?
6. How many "Super Smash Bros. Melee" stages return to "Brawl"?

Answer: Ten

Ten return, they are: Brinstar, Coneria, Onett, Rainbow Ride, Hyrule Temple, Yoshi's Island, Big Blue, Green Greens, Pokemon Stadium and Jungle Japes.
For the most part these stages are the same, but there are some small differences, including the music.
7. In "Brawl", the taunt system has changed a bit, how many taunts does each character now receive?

Answer: Three

Now you get three taunts, on the control pad, there's the up taunt, the down taunt and the side taunt, left and right on the stick are the same thing unfortunately.

You can also taunt in the Wiimote with the 1 and 2 buttons.
8. Which character hails from Castle Siege?

Answer: Ike

Although every one of them has a castle, and all those castles ARE constantly under siege, Castle Siege is a stage from "Fire Emblem".

Bowser's castle is constantly being raided by Mario...maybe if he took Princess Peach somewhere less obvious...

King Dedede's castle is often being attacked by Kirby, the pink puffball never seems to get tired of it.

Princess Peach's Castle is often under attack by Bowser and his minions, in fact in a "Melee" stage, Princess Peach's Castle, bullet bills are constantly exploding on it!
9. Another cool new item is the assist trophies. These items release an ally that helps you take down your opponents. Which of these is NOT an assist trophy?

Answer: Tails

Tails would pretty cool assist trophy, but unfortunately doesn't exist. However the other three do.

Custom Robo releases a small little robot that looks like a little toy, but it packs a big punch! Try to stay away from the machine, it's deadly!

Devil is by far the most annoying assist trophy in my opinion, he points in a direction, and the camera swerves in that direction! If you're on the other side of the stage when that happens, you can die just because the camera moved!

Nintendog is another annoying one, it just jumps up on the screen just like it did in the DS game, but it also blocks most of the screen!
10. What's the chance that you run across a Mew?

Answer: 1/493

That's right, you only have a 1/493 chance of running into Mew! No, I didn't just make that number up.
It's the same for Celebi and Jirachi, 1/493. However they're very worth it.

Mew drops a CD, but be sure to be right under the Mew if you really want to get it.

Celebi drops a bunch of trophies! Be sure to take a break from fighting to grab them!

Jirachi drops tons of stickers! Get em all as fast as you can!

Of course, this means if you're in an online match, only one person can get the items, so it becomes a war over who gets it sometimes!
