Question 1 of 10
1. This character encouraged the player to partake in "jolly cooperation" and is one of the most recognizable characters in any game From Software has ever made. In which game does Solaire of Astora appear in? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Responsible for administering level ups to the player, in which game does The Doll appear? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Hmm... Siegward of Catarina is a jovial, enigmatic character with a lengthy questline. Uniquely, Siegward became just the second NPC who can join a boss fight without needing to be summoned, joining Biorr of "Demon's Souls". What boss fight can Siegward help the player with? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Manscorpion Tark, if met in "Dark Souls 2's" Shaded Ruins, will reward the player if they manage to defeat a particular boss. He will even offer himself as a summon to lend a hand if the player so chooses. What boss fight does this apply to? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Early on in "Dark Souls 2", the player will quickly find themselves collecting quite a few Boss Souls, used for awe-inspiring weapons and spells. They may grow frustrated that they can't make any real use of them without finding Straid of Olaphis. Where can Straid be found? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. This NPC in "Bloodborne" is initially responsible for designing the hub area that they can seek refuge in, the Hunter's Dream. He later will, pending player decision, end up being a boss fight, possibly the very last boss the player will face in their playthrough. Who is this? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. This NPC, tied to an "Elden Ring" questline, acts as a sorcery based mentor to the player, and her questline can potentially earn the player a highly valuable Ancient Dragon Somber Smithing Stone. What NPC is this? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. In "Dark Souls 2," summonable NPCs uniquely would gesture towards the player upon being summoned, and then again once their duty has been completed. This is a feature that would not be replicated in "Dark Souls 3", "Bloodborne", or "Elden Ring". For as silly as this seems, the player can potentially be greatly aided by this when traveling through the Harvest Valley. If they choose to summon Devotee Scarlett, she will gesture "Point Forward" once the player gets close to a very important structure. What structure is this? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. "Demon's Souls" hadn't yet introduced the mechanic of NPC summons just yet, only allowing for players to summon one another for aid in various areas. This means that, in only one fight, the player can be aided by an NPC- in locating and freeing Biorr of the Twin Fangs from his Tower Archstone prison, he will return the favor by aiding the player in a fairly challenging boss fight. What boss will Biorr help the player with? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. The final boss of the "Dark Souls 3" base game, Soul of Cinder, is very commonly fought without an NPC summon. That said, it is actually possible to gain the aid of two summonable NPCs, though its quite difficult as it requires the completion of an extremely lengthy and complex questline that began at the beginning of the game and could only be fully completed very late in the game. One of the possible summons is Londor Pale Shade, whom the player has had a handful of opportunities to summon up to this point. The other summonable option, however, is new and can only be summoned for this specific fight. What NPC can be summoned here in this regard? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This character encouraged the player to partake in "jolly cooperation" and is one of the most recognizable characters in any game From Software has ever made. In which game does Solaire of Astora appear in?

Answer: Dark Souls 1

Solaire is available as a summonable NPC for a few boss fights, most prominently a duel against Dragonslayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough, often regarded as one of the hardest fights in the game. Solaire has well above average maximum HP and as such, makes for an excellent meat shield in that particular fight, adept at allowing the player to handle a 1v1 against one of the pair rather than be at a numbers disadvantage.
2. Responsible for administering level ups to the player, in which game does The Doll appear?

Answer: Bloodborne

The Doll is a mostly lifeless caricature who mainly just exists to provide the character with level ups. Through completing a few side objectives in particular, her earthly memory can be somewhat jostled into recalling who she was before inheriting her current role. It is largely believed that she is the cognitive incarnation of Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower.
3. Hmm... Siegward of Catarina is a jovial, enigmatic character with a lengthy questline. Uniquely, Siegward became just the second NPC who can join a boss fight without needing to be summoned, joining Biorr of "Demon's Souls". What boss fight can Siegward help the player with?

Answer: Yhorm the Giant

Siegward has a particular interest in Yhorm, as the two were essentially brothers in arms canonically. Siegward will be equipped with a Storm Ruler- this weapon will rip off huge portions of Yhorm's health. Siegward's signature Catarina armor set gives him large damage resistance as well, meaning he can easily solo this fight if the player wants to watch him do so.
4. Manscorpion Tark, if met in "Dark Souls 2's" Shaded Ruins, will reward the player if they manage to defeat a particular boss. He will even offer himself as a summon to lend a hand if the player so chooses. What boss fight does this apply to?

Answer: Scorpionness Najka

Manscorpion Tark may only be interacted with if the player equips the Ring of Whispers. Failing to do so will result in him speaking incomprehensible gibberish that shows up in subtitles as "...?" If the player manages to successfully speak with him, he will ask for help killing Najka, whom he has been betrothed to. With or without his help, if the player defeats Najka then later speaks to Tark, he will reward the player with a Fragrant Branch of Yore. Speaking to him after defeating The Duke's Dear Freya will see him reward the player with the Second Dragon Ring along with his weapon, the Black Scorpion Stinger.
5. Early on in "Dark Souls 2", the player will quickly find themselves collecting quite a few Boss Souls, used for awe-inspiring weapons and spells. They may grow frustrated that they can't make any real use of them without finding Straid of Olaphis. Where can Straid be found?

Answer: Lost Bastille

In order to reach and speak to Straid, the player will need a Fragrant Branch of Yore handy. They'll want to venture to the top of a large prison. In doing so, they'll enter a room full of mummies who will attempt to essentially suicide bomb the player.

After clearing them, the player will find a single open prison cell with a stony statue in front of it. Using the Fragrant Branch of Yore on it will reveal that this statue is actually a petrified Straid. Upon freeing him, he will trade the player some boss weapons in and spells exchange for boss souls.
6. This NPC in "Bloodborne" is initially responsible for designing the hub area that they can seek refuge in, the Hunter's Dream. He later will, pending player decision, end up being a boss fight, possibly the very last boss the player will face in their playthrough. Who is this?

Answer: Gehrman

The player has a total of three different endings they can achieve. In two of them, Gehrman offers to mercy kill the player after they've completed their duties. If the player decides to accept his offer, he does exactly that and the playthrough ends then and there. If the player refuses, Gehrman will attack them and turn into a boss fight. Once defeated, the player's playthrough will either end then and there, or they'll then need to face the Moon Presence before their playthrough is complete.
7. This NPC, tied to an "Elden Ring" questline, acts as a sorcery based mentor to the player, and her questline can potentially earn the player a highly valuable Ancient Dragon Somber Smithing Stone. What NPC is this?

Answer: Sorceress Sellen

Sorceress Sellen has a long, somewhat emotional questline where the player can acquire unique, otherwise impossible sorceries to add to their arsenal. At the very end, the player is left with a difficult choice that has major implications on the plot at hand- Witch Hunter Jerren, whom the player met at a festival at Redmane Castle, seeks to kill Sellen as she attempts to revolt against the Raya Lucaria Academy. Sellen obviously does not want this, and both will request the player's aid in killing the other.

However, it is only if the player sided with Jerren that they are rewarded with the Ancient Dragon Somber Smithing Stone; siding with Sellen will keep her open to teach the player powerful sorceries, but otherwise does not immediately reward the player with anything other than the Lusat's staff.

Answer: Windmill

There are two windmills within the Harvest Valley. The player is heavily advised to enter and light them both on fire, as doing so will not only eliminate most of the poison pools found throughout the area, but it will make the area's boss significantly easier to defeat. Mytha the Baneful Queen's boss room is completely filled with poison- not only will this damage the player a lot, but this poison also constantly heals Mytha and makes it very difficult to make meaningful progress against her when the player is also constantly having to heal off poison damage. From Software seems to have wanted the player to be aware of this, as Devotee Scarlett will attempt to direct the player's attention to these windmills with the "Point Forward" gesture, as she points at the two windmills the first time the player gets close to either one.

Answer: Penetrator

Biorr is so absurdly strong that he is capable of taking out the Penetrator by himself, with no help from the player whatsoever. He won't jump into the fray immediately, but he won't be far behind the player once the fight against Penetrator begins- needing only about ten seconds to rush in and fight.

Answer: Yuria of Londor

Yuria of Londor is the "questgiver" for her own incredibly long questline. In finishing her questline and defeating the Soul of Cinder with or without her, the player can obtain the Usurpation of Fire ending. In battle, Yuria is quite the force- she has the second most HP out of any NPC which can be summoned, only falling short of the DLC's Slave Knight Gael.

She's no slouch offensively either, wielding the dangerous Dark Hand as well as the Morion Blade, a weapon which inflicts Bleed and deals more damage the less HP the user has.

She will often be able to survive the first phase of the Soul of Cinder fight, and if the player goes out of their way and makes a big effort to constantly take Soul of Cinder's attention, it is possible, albeit very challenging, to have Yuria survive the entire fight.
