Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the original "Pac-Man", how many boards could be played before you could defeat the game and come to an end?

Answer: 255

After board 255, half of the screen turned into video "garbage" making the game unplayable. The creators of the game never expected anyone to ever reach that point in the game!
2. Which fruit is worth 1000 points if eaten by Ms. Pac-Man?

Answer: Apple

The apple was worth 1000 points to Ms. Pac-Man. The Strawberry was worth 200, the pear 2000, and the banana 5000. Ms. Pac-Man must have liked apples better than Pac-Man...they were only worth 700 points in the original game!
3. Which of these games featured a maze that was too large to fit on the screen in its entirety and therefore scrolled with the movements of the player?

Answer: Junior Pac-Man

"Junior Pac-Man", arguably the most difficult game of the "Pac-Man" series, not only featured a scrolling maze, but the bonus prizes also destroyed the energizers!
4. In which of the following games did Pac-Man never eat a ghost?

Answer: Pac & Pal

"Pac & Pal", one of the more obscure games of the series, featured "energizers" that were actually everyday objects or objects found in other video games. When one of these was eaten, Pac-Man had the ability to "stun" the ghosts for points, but never actually ate them!
5. Which version of "Pac-Man" proclaimed itself as being the "Exciting New?"

Answer: Pac-Man Plus

The "Exciting New Pac-Man Plus!" This game was a slightly different spin on the original. "Pac-Man Plus" featured green mazes (instead of blue), different "fruit" bonuses and energizers that did things at random, such as make the maze disappear or only turn 3 of the ghosts blue.
6. In the original "Pac-Man", what are the real names of the ghosts?

Answer: Shadow, Speedy, Bashful, and Pokey

Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde were the NICKNAMES of the ghosts. Their real names were indeed Shadow, Speedy, Bashful and Pokey.
7. Which of the following games featured jumping ghosts and 3-D mazes?

Answer: Pac-Mania

In addition to the 3-D mazes and jumping ghosts, "Pac-Mania" also gave you the option of starting on one of three different mazes at the beginning of the game.
8. Which game of the "Pac-Man" series was a video game/pinball hybrid?

Answer: Baby Pac-Man

"Baby Pac-Man" was the first combination video game/pinball machine from Bally Midway. They went on to produce another, called "Granny and the Gators."
9. In original "Pac-Man" and "Ms. Pac-Man", what is the last board in which the ghosts turn blue?

Answer: The 18th board

Board 17 is the first board in which the ghosts do not turn blue. And board 18 is the last chance to gobble up the ghosts!
10. What is a perfect score on the original "Pac-Man"?

Answer: 3,333,360

The perfect score was first achieved by Billy Mitchell on July 3, 1999 in New Hampshire.
