Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the only settled town in this zone?

Answer: Thorium Point

Thorium Point rests in the northern cliffs of the zone looking over the charred wastes below. This neutral outpost contains one of the continent's most central flightpaths, a necessity for players attempting to reach the major dungeon location to the south.

The Thorium Brotherhood, a group of neutral dwarves, operate this town and provide a number of level 50-range quests, a hearthstone location, and traders. There are no trainers in this town.
2. What is the only herb obtainable for Herbalist characters in this zone?

Answer: Firebloom

Moving up the scale in terms of professions, Searing Gorge contains a number of mid-to-high level gathering items. For Herbalists, Firebloom is the only gatherable herb to be seen on the ground. Firebloom is used in four different Alchemy items (including the Philosopher's Stone, a recipe sold in Gadgetzan) and other different professions. Searing Gorge isn't the best place to pick this herb up though; players are more apt to locate Firebloom in the dunes of Tanaris in the southeastern end of Kalimdor.
3. At the Grimesilt Dig Site, someone's 'caught' in an outhouse. What do you need to bring to them to complete a quest?

Answer: Silk Cloth

Grimesilt Dig Site is filled with Dark Iron Dwarves and dangerous level 45+ war golems. In order to 'save' the person in the outhouse, you need to kill the nearby golems in order to claim fifteen pieces of Silk Cloth so that the man inside can finish up and grant you a reward.

Other than this, only one other quest can be found in this area. The Grimesilt Dig Site is found in the southeast corner of the Searing Gorge, and although it's not the most highly-visited place in the zone, it goes along the path.
4. Margol the Rager, found near the Tanner Camp, is which of these creatures?

Answer: Thunder Lizard

While the Tanner Camp is really only a location for Alliance players in need of leather, behind the location is a pathway leading to a small cave. Roaming this area will be the creature known as Margol the Rager, a level 43 Thunder Lizard who drops a horn required for an Alliance quest known as 'The Horn of the Beast'.

This quest is one of a few that progressively leads Alliance players to receiving the Key to Stonewrought Pass, so it's somewhat important for those who wish to make their way north (or south for that matter) through the Eastern Kingdoms. Once an elite creature, Margol is now just a regular enemy.
5. What is the name of the large canyon cutting across most of the Searing Gorge?

Answer: The Cauldron

Excavated by the Dwarves of the zone, The Cauldron is the major 'attraction' of the Searing Gorge and it takes up most of the area's map. Infested with lava spiders and elementals, this regions needs to be visited for some of the quests obtained in town here. Due to the nature of the crevice made here (for mining or excavating), players with a Mining profession are likely to find a good deal of mining objects within.

The Slag Pit can be found deep within the Cauldron and can be visited during quests.
6. What kind of characters can be found at Firewatch Ridge?

Answer: Elite enemies

Firewatch Ridge, along the western cliff border of the zone, contains the Twilight Hammer clan of Dwarves, an elite group of low-level 50 enemies who antagonize the Thorium Brotherhood in Thorium Point. These can be found in a cave along the cliffs guarded by golems, spiders, and other unfriendly creatures common in this zone. Twilight's Hammer forces are also in Silithus and (in "Wrath of the Lich King's" Northrend) Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom, a dungeon.
7. Which of these locations is not in Searing Gorge?

Answer: The Scarab Wall

The Scarab Wall is extremely far away from Searing Gorge. Players can visit it in the south end of Silithus, a zone in the southwest corner of Kalimdor. The Scarab Wall is also the home of the dungeon known as the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.
Dustfire Valley is the northeast portion of the zone containing a number of level 46-ish enemies, the Sea of Cinders is a southern location in the zone containing similarly-leveled spiders and magma elementals, and Blackchar Cave is a small dead-end location in the southwest corner of Searing Gorge.
8. Stonewrought Pass is labeled on most maps of Searing Gorge. What is this pass used for?

Answer: Connecting to another zone

Stonewrought Pass is found in the northeast corner of Searing Gorge and it can only be used if the player character has the ability to lockpick the gate or an Alliance player is in possession of the key used to unlock it. If either of these are possible the player can cross into a lower-level zone or vice versa, otherwise they'll need to take a long way around through a level 30-40 zone to the west.

The only path in the entire zone leads from Stonewrought Pass southward.
9. Which zone does not border the Searing Gorge?

Answer: Wetlands

Searing Gorge is along the western edge of the Eastern Kingdoms, and despite the fact it somewhat borders the Great Sea, it also shares a perimeter with other zones. Loch Modan serves as an entrance for Alliance players, but only if they have a key in order to enter the locked gate that separates it from Searing Gorge. Badlands has an open entrance in its western cliffs (south of Kargath). Additionally, the Burning steppes (to the south of the Searing Gorge) also connect in its northwest region. Wetlands are north of Loch Modan, and because of this they don't actually meet the mountainous border of Searing Gorge.
10. Blackrock Mountain contains many instances. Which of these does not exist?

Answer: Blackash Dome

Blackrock Mountain is nestled in between the south border of Searing Gorge and the north cliffs of the Burning Steppes. Because of this, it's often regarded as its own separate entity, furthered by the fact that it is a rather monumental quest hub. Although the Cataclysm knocks open an additional two dungeons, Blackrock Depths, Molten Core, Blackrock Spire, and Blackwing Lair are four of the instances found within this wonder. All four of these are meant for players at level 60 (at the least).

The danger of this area are further emphasized by the abundance of Black Dragonflight monsters which patrol the inside of this feature in the center of the Eastern Kingdoms.
