Answer: 1981

1981 was the last year that Pontiac assembled their 301-cid V-8 engine. There was a photo displayed to the public that which showed a 1967 Firebird and a 1981 Firebird together as the first and last V-8's that Pontiac would assemble.

Answer: 33,493

Pontiac built "20,541 base Firebird models, 10,938 Esprit models, 5,927 Formula models and 33,493 Trans Am models".

The Pontiac 301 V-8 and the Pontiac 4.9 Turbo were found on the Formula Turbo and Trans Am. A Chevrolet 305 V-8 was added as a delete option on the Trans Am" as well.
