Answer: DAF

The 340/360 is in many ways an unusual Volvo (not surprising since it wasn't originally designed as one!), but has many interesting design features including the rear-mounted gearbox.
6. The model numbering system for the 1970s and early '80s worked in which way?

Answer: Body series, number of cylinders, number of doors.

Hence 164 is a series 1 six cylinder four door and 245 is series 2 four cylinder 5 door (estate).

Answer: 1982

The first model released was the luxurious 760GLE, followed by the sporty 760 Turbo and later the 740 series, including an estate model
8. The V6 engine used in luxurious models in the '70s and '80s is commonly known as the PRV engine. What do these initials stand for?

Answer: Peugeot, Renault, Volvo

The three manufacturers collaborated on the engine design, versions of the same motor can also be found in the earlier Peugeot 604s and Renault Alpines.
9. What does Volvo (loosely) mean in Latin?

Answer: I roll

Not surprising given that the name was originally owned by a bearing company!
10. Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson, the founders of the company, originally worked for a Swedish bearing company. What was the name of that company?

Answer: SKF

As indicated in the previous answer, SKF owned the trademark "Volvo" and generously donated it to the enterprising businessmen.
11. The 120 series Volvo was also known by which name?

Answer: Amazon

Ostensibly called Amazon in the Nordic countries and by various numbers elsewhere, the Amazon moniker became more common worldwide.
12. What Volvo model did Roger Moore drive in The Saint?

Answer: P1800

The producers initially wanted an E Type Jaguar for the role but they were in very short supply so they "settled" for a P1800 and never changed it. Roger Moore drove one for many years, even after the show had finished. A man of style, to be sure!
13. What was the first Front wheel drive model series, released in the late 1980s, called?

Answer: 440

Quite a revolution for Volvo.
14. Who owned the Volvo Car Company between 1999 and 2010?

15. Which Volvo model marked the return of the brand to the British Touring Car Championship in the early 1990s?

Answer: 850 Estate

It didn't win the championship, but it certainly got the attention of it's competitors and showed that wagons don't have to be dull and slow.

Answer: False

They were also offered as the cheapest model on some markets, equipped with the least powerful motors.
17. On a 240 series GLE model from the early to mid '80s most of the chrome was painted black instead.

Looked sportier to some eyes, downmarket to others.
18. The rare and beautiful 262C was built by an Italian coachbuilder by modifying 264s built in Sweden. What was the name of the Italian coachbuilder?

Answer: Bertone

If you have one of these, please look after it. Or give it to me.:)
19. It was introduced in 1944, as Volvo's first crack at a small car. It stayed in production, albeit modified, for more than 20 years. What was the name of the model when introduced?

Answer: PV444

The PV444 was the first production car to be fitted with a laminated windscreen.
20. What is the fastest car produced by Volvo?

Answer: S 60 R

The S60R packs 220kW and 4 wheel drive to deliver exhilarating performance for a comfortable luxury car. The V70R has the same drivetrain but in the estate body which gives it an inferior power-to-weight ratio. Hope you enjoyed the quiz, thanks for playing!
