How's Your Spanish Vocabulary? Quiz

I recently started first year Spanish, and wanted to make a quiz about what I've learned so far. If you know much Spanish at all, you shouldn't have any problems with this quiz, although some questions might be harder than others.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How would '¡Buenos dias!' be translated?

Answer: Good day!

'Good night' and 'Good evening' are both translated as '¡Buenas noches!,' and see you later is '¡Hasta luego!'
2. What Spanish phrase would you use if you wanted to learn someone's name?

Answer: ¿Como te llamas?

Although the word looks like the name for a Peruvian animal, 'llamas' is actually pronounced 'yamas,' and '¿Como te llamas?' means 'What is your name?'. '¿Que pasa?' is 'What's up?', '¿Que dia es hoy?' is 'What day is today?' and '¿Cuantos estantes hay?' means 'How many bookshelves are there?'
3. Now for a social question. If a guy met a girl at a party and wanted to get to know her better, what might he ask her?

Answer: ¿Cual es tu numero de telefono?

'¿Cual es tu numero de telefono?' is 'What is your phone number?' (I'm sure that it was hard to figure that one out!), '¿Cuantos boligrafos hay?' is 'How many pens are there?', '¿Que dia es hoy?' is 'What day is today?' and '¿Como se escribe cuaderno?' is 'How does one spell notebook?'
4. OK, now for some days of the week. Which day follows martes?

Answer: miercoles

'Martes' is Tuesday, so 'miercoles', Wednesday, would logically follow. 'Lunes' is Monday, 'sabado' is Saturday, and 'jueves' is Thursday.
5. Now for some months of the year. What month follows 'enero?'

Answer: febrero

'Enero' is January, so 'febrero', February, would follow. 'Diciembre' is December, 'abril' is April, and 'julio' is July. Just an interesting fact: months of the Spanish year aren't capitalized, unless at the beginning of a sentence (that's a hard habit to break!).
6. Now for some classroom Spanish. What's the Spanish word for pencil sharpener?

Answer: el sacapuntas

Although it sounds like a really bad word that wouldn't normally be allowed in Quizzyland, 'el sacapuntas' really means 'pencil sharpener'. 'El ordenador' is a word for computer, 'la basura' means trash, and 'la mesa' is table.
7. If someone asked you: '¿como se dice 'pen' en español?' how would you answer their question?

Answer: Se dice boligrafo

'¿Como se dice 'pen' en español?' means: 'How would one say pen in Spanish?', so you would answer: 'Se dice boligrafo', meaning: 'one would say 'boligrafo'. 'Hoy es lunes' means 'Today is Monday', 'Se dice lapiz' is 'One would say 'lapiz' (pencil). 'Se llama Nacho' means 'His name is Nacho'.
8. If someone were to ask me '¿De donde eres?' I would answer them 'Soy de Estados Unidos'. What did the person ask me?

Answer: Where are you from?

They asked where I am from, and I answered them: 'I am from the United States'. 'What is your name?' is '¿Como te llamas?' 'How old are you?' is '¿Cuantos años tienes?', 'What is today's date?' is '¿Cual es la fecha de hoy?'.
9. Which of these objects wouldn't normally be found in a classroom?

Answer: el gato

El gato is a cat. El sacapuntas is a pencil sharpener, el boligrafo is a pen, la puerta means a door.
10. Which of these is NOT a phrase that could be loosely translated as a form of 'goodbye'?

Answer: ¡Luz!

Three of the four are valedictions (ways to say goodbye). 'Luz' means light. This is my first quiz, I hope you all liked it!
