Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Museum Square, Amsterdam

Answer: Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum is located in Museum Square in Amsterdam. It displays a large variety of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, including works by Vermeer and Frans Hals. In addition, the Rijksmuseum garden offers a chance to stroll through a landscape of sculptures and beautiful greenery. "The Night Watch", painted in 1642 by Rembrandt, has its own dedicated room in the Rijksmuseum.
2. Boston, Massachusetts

Answer: The Museum of Fine Arts

The Museum of Fine Arts was constructed in the Neoclassical style of architecture. It includes the "Art of the Americas" wing which includes sculpture and art from North America, South America and Central America from as long ago as 3000 years. To give just one example, "Tea", painted by Mary Stevenson Cassatt in 1880, is displayed in the Museum of Fine Arts.

The painting portrays two well-to-do ladies having tea in an upper class drawing room with a silver tea service and fancy striped wallpaper.
3. Madrid, Spain

Answer: Prado Museum

Located at Paseo del Prado, Madrid, Spain, the Prado Museum houses the 1656 painting, "Las Meninas" by Velázquez. It shows the artist holding a paintbrush and palette, along with the Infant Margarita, who is cared for by two of the Queen's`maids. The King and Queen, Philip IV and Mariana of Austria, can be glimpsed as reflections in a mirror as they watch the scene play out.

The Prado itself was designed by the architect Juan de Villanueva. The collection also houses "Knight with his Hand on his Breast" by El Greco which was painted in 1580.
4. New Orleans, Louisiana

Answer: The National WWII Museum

This museum was founded in the year 2000 and confirmed in 2003 to be America's official National WWII Museum. Once named the D-Day Museum, the emphasis of the museum was on the amphibious assault on Normandy as well as the "Higgins boats" they rode on.

The museum also displays a B-17E airplane nicknamed "My Gal Sal", known for having been lost over Greenland and then found fifty three years afterward.
5. Taipei, Taiwan

Answer: National Palace Museum

Focusing on ancient Chinese art and artifacts, the museum boasts eight thousand years of Chinese art stretching from the neolithic period to the present. Paintings in the National Palace museum range from the Tang Dynasty to the modern age. The Jadeite Cabbage, carved by an unknown sculptor, is a fascinating piece on display.
6. Zagreb, Croatia and Los Angeles, California

Answer: The Museum of Broken Relationships

The original Museum of Broken Relationships is found in Zagreb's baroque Kulmer palace. It is an unusual place in which donations are accepted from people after a broken relationship with a description of the item. The US version opened in Los Angeles, California in 2016.

In May 2011, the museum won the Kenneth Hudson Award, given annually by the European Museum Forum for museums which "challenge common perceptions of the role of museums in society". Visiting the museum may help ex-lovers to heal while viewing items from other donors.
7. Phoenix, Arizona

Answer: The Hall of Flame Fire Museum

At the Hall of Flame there are many rejuvenated pieces of fire fighting equipment dating from 1725 to 1969.
