This brutalist architectural building is located on a cold, remote hill in the Central Balkan Mountains, the site of the last battle between Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire. It was built in 1974 as a monument to Communism and was covered in mosaics inside and out. When the communist regime fell in Bulgaria, it was closed and left to vandals who have covered it in graffiti.

Answer: Pennsylvania, USA

The Kinzua Viaduct was the tallest railroad trestle in the world when it was built in 1882 and was in use until 1959. In 2002 a tornado took down a large portion of the abandoned metal bridge, which is now part of the Kinzua Bridge State Park.

Fort Drum was a natural feature that was transformed into a concrete island shaped like a battleship. Its main purpose was harbor defense, and was effectively rebuilt with turrets and guns. The site was abandoned after WWII and was subsequently widely looted for the metal it contains.

It now supports an automated light put in place by the Philippine Coast guard for use as a directional sea light.
