Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Nissan eventually switched up the motor used in the 240sx. They went from the KA24E to the KA24DE. What was the biggest and most notable difference in the two motors?

Answer: Double Over Head Cams (DOHC)

Nissan wanted to give drivers in America a more responsive feel to the car, so giving the 2.4L motor DOHC was the most cost effective way. It added significant torque and a bit more horsepower.
2. The Nissan 350Z was a turning point for Nissan's sports car line up. The 350Z was released with trim levels such as the Base, Enthusiast, Touring and Track. What other trim level did I leave out?

Answer: Performance

The Performance trim level came with bigger wheels, a rear spoiler, the option for Brembo brakes, and VDC. VDC is a type of traction/stability control that stands for Vehicle Dynamic Control.
3. Which Nissan Skyline GT-R was considered the fifth and final generation?

Answer: R34

The R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R was the most popular of the series, and features the RB26DETT and RB28DETT motors. This GT-R is the last generation to hold the Skyline name. The R35 GT-R is considered a replacement, not a continuation. This is why it does not hold the Skyline name.
4. The Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R was the only Skyline to be available in North America upon its release. True or false?

Answer: False

Although it is currently legal in North America to own this car, it originally was not, because it did not meet federal emissions and safety standards of the time. However, it now comes under the 25-year "historic" car rule and is therefore available to import. The only GT-R to be released in North America was the R35.
5. In the Nissan 300ZX Z32 there was a feature that was also utilized in Nissan Skylines. It was called the "Super HICAS". What was this system?

Answer: Rear wheel steering system

The acronym HICAS stands for High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering. This system was very popular in many vehicles of the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). It was also featured in the Honda Prelude and the Nissan 240sx. It eventually became outdated but in the 1990s was very popular.
6. The S14 Nissan S-Chassis featured two different front end styles based on the year it was released. The latest style was called the Kouki. What was the older style called?

Answer: Zenki

The difference between the two versions was fairly minor overall, although the difference in the styling of the front ends was more significant. So significant that some will actually modify the front end of their older or newer version of the car to look like the opposite, according to individual preference.
7. The sixth generation of the Nissan Z series is the Nissan 370Z. What internal change in the car was the reason for the name change from 350Z to 370Z?

Answer: Upgraded to a 3.7L motor

The Nissan 350Z had a 3.5L motor(VQ35) and the Nissan 370Z has a 3.7L motor(VQ37). This jump in displacement meant more horsepower and more torque.
8. The Nissan Juke was offered in an all-wheel drive option.

Answer: True

The Juke Nismo edition is all-wheel drive. The Nissan Juke is, as of 2017, considered to be Nissan's cheapest sports car option. Nissan was asked to bring back a cheap sports car option, such as the 240sx. Nissan told its consumers it had no plans of doing so and that the Nissan Juke was that option.
9. What is the Japanese version of the 240SX named?

Answer: Silvia

The Nissan Silvia and the 240SX are on the same exact chassis. The European version was called the 200SX. The 240SX had a 2.4L non-turbo motor while the Nissan Silvia of Japan had a 2.0L turbo motor known as the SR20DET.
10. What is Nismo an abbreviation for?

Answer: Nissan Motorsport

Nismo was founded in 1984 with the goal of providing the world with the best Japanese tuned race cars. It built its first race car in 1988 and now has its hands in multiple racing series. They also tune and modify road cars from Nissan for enthusiasts all over the world.
