Do you think some people get different Brain Twists than others? Maybe by level? Namrewsna mentioned doing a fractured one yesterday, but I had another drop-a-letter puzzle. I haven't had a fractured puzzle in days. I always thought we all got the same thing.

We don't all get the same brain twists. There are several issued in one day, and we each get one of them. I believe it is randomly and not based on level or anything else.

@DireWolf: At least in WTE, some of the categories had their difficulty percentages nudged down somewhat. I know that Chemistry and Food and Drink used to be 15/15 gimmes in WTE, and now aren't. That might also have been the case in GC.

@DeepHistory: Try this quiz :) http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/BrainTeasers/How-To-Do-Wordwise-Quizzes-9938.html
I didn't get Wordwise the first time, either, but once you get the commonly applied rules in your head it's usually easy to at least pass.

Yep, that's exactly what I was talking about. I want those gimmes to come back. Especially for when I'm trying for the HC Immortal badge in the GC. There's quite a few topics that I used to be able to score a 15/15 easily. But I dare not play them now in GC, because I'm not able to even get a qualifying score if I do. I do like the added specialized categories in the 'Who's the Expert?' game though.

Man, this is serious s**t! I can't believe how invested I have become in the Immortal badge. Last week I had to go to a very remote part of Papua New Guinea. Believe it or not, I actually planned it so I could play a round before I left, and then get back in time to play the next round. It was a day trip, so 23 hours is all I needed. One round at the very start, the next at the very end.
So I played a round at the very start, took off for places unknown to visit three villages, trying to sort out water systems. With very solid results.

AND got back in time to play a round, but the entire mobile phone system was down! I use a mobile phone modem to connect to the internet. Agonisingly slow, sometimes, but generally reliable. Not this time. So missed a round, dropped about 15 places in the overall standings and now struggling to recover.

God I love FunTrivia....but I might need an antidote.......

LOL, I remember that feeling, it's like being in a very fast lift - your outsides and your insides just aren't on the same floor. Never mind, it's still early days (sorry if that's depressing) and you can make up the gap. I went for Immortal at the same time as one of my team mates; she had her appendix out during the GC and was in hospital for several days, she still made it.

That's some serious dedication Lizard...and slightly crazy. :-p

Even for me, and I'm certifiable. I'm sure you'll make it, if not this time then the next.

I hear you!
For the next 2 weeks I will be taking an all-day class about an hour's drive away. (I have a teenager, so living on campus isn't an option for me.) I am SO not a morning person, but I have taken GC into account when figuring out how early I have to get up. (And if I'm a little late to class occasionally, better that than missing a round, right?) I just hope my brain functions that early!

Just tell your teacher that it's all part of your effort to ensure a well rounded education. I think they'll buy it.

I agree with Dire - at least it is educational. Guess it beats being addicted to Days of Our Lives or something (ooops, no offence - I can feel the Soapies coming for me already...)

Dear All - truly, before anyone else tells me, I want to say I realise that was an insensitive comment about Days of Our Lives. My Mother, bless her 90 year old heart, is still a huge fan. She literally mourned when the Alice left the show (yeah, I actually know the names - sat through many an episode growing up). And I know many Funtrivia folk are fans as well. Sometimes I forget how massive, eclectic and ecumenical the Funtrivia community is.

Sorry.

After a few times of never missing a game, only to hit the wall at "genius" level, I realized that the "immortal" badge odds are just too high. Now I just like playing the GC because it's a nice addition to daily point totals. It's like quitting smoking....I'm often tempted to resume (chasing the immortal badge), but I'm better off without the craziness.

Yes, there's a bunch of us players all grouped together at the top of the Hardcore battle. And then there's DaBomb way out in some other zip code. Wonder how that happened?

And paul4760, the main reason why I keep playing the Global Challenge is that it's my favorite game on here. It's important to remember why the 'Fun' is listed first in 'FunTrivia'. Sometimes I forget though.

Ok, FunFans, I gave it a shot. Did Oceania in the ** version, hoping for, well, Oceania. Got Australia. Fourteen questions about Australia and 1 about Fiji. Nice mix. Should have known - one of the other categories was Aussie Rules.....Oh, well, I hold out hope for the I-Kiribati, the Tongans and the rest and hope to see some of them soon....

Cheers

Sorry about that Lizard. Those ** categories are tricky. I've been caught out by them in multiple Global Challenges. Topics that I can breeze through in Expert will trip me up every once in awhile. Hang in there...still a long way to go.

Be VERY careful about the Aussie Rules set - I'm a HUGE fan and I struggled with several questions. To be avoided if you want 15/15 methinks :-)

If you're going to hang, then hang loose.
