Answer: Squints

Squints says this about Smalls when he trips and falls over trying to catch the ball. Benny then walks over to Smalls and talks to him. Benny bats again and this time Smalls catches it and Squints says, "Yeah, he's alright."

Answer: Marley Shelton

Shelton played Wendy Peppercorn, who was first seen walking down the street. Squints eyed her since he had a crush on her and she smiled at him while she continued to walk. Midway through the movie, the sandlot kids went to a local pool and Squints went into the deep end and appeared to be unconscious. Wendy was the lifeguard on duty that day and dove in to get Squints. When she performed CPR on Squints, he smiled at his friends as she listened for a heartbeat, showing that he faked being in trouble just so Wendy could help him. Squints then kissed Wendy and she scolded him for what he did. At the end of the movie, it was revealed that Squints married Wendy. Shelton guest starred on the TV series "American Dad!", "Karen Sisco" and "Cybill".

Answer: PF Flyers

PF Flyers are an actual shoe brand that was popular in the 1960s, when the movie takes place. The marketing ad for these shoes when they originally came out was that any kid who wore these shoes would be able to run faster and jump higher. This slogan is referenced in the movie by Smalls' narration. When Benny arrives at the sandlot and gets ready to jump over the fence, he takes off his old Converse shoes and puts on the PF Flyers right out of the box.

Answer: Left-Center Field

When Smalls is first invited to play with the boys by Benny, he is very nervous and does nto know much about baseball anyway. Since he is the ninth player and one player must be the batter, that leaves just eight position players. Therefore, they must play with just two outifelders instead of three meaning that one player needs to play left-center and the other plays right-center. Benny asks Smalls to play left-center but Smalls ends up going to left. Benny then says, "That's left, I said left center." Smalls moves over and finds the correct spot.

Answer: A dog

"The Beast" was a huge dog who never gave the boys' baseballs back when they were hit over the fence. He was very protective of his property, and the boys feared him.

Answer: Fish hat

He got a Cubs hat from Benny, after Benny told him to throw the fish hat in the fireplace. In the end of the movie, when Scotty becomes the Dodgers' announcer, he is still wearing the fish hat.

Answer: Squints

Wendy was the lifeguard on duty that day. Squints pretended to drown while she was on duty so that he could kiss her. He said that he had been planning it for years.

Scotty: "I thought you said, 'The Great Bambi.'"

Porter: "That wimpy deer?"

Scotty: "Yeah, I guess."

Answer: Ham

It was really funny. Smalls walks in. Ham: "Hey, you want a s'more?" Smalls: "Some more of what?" Ham: "No, no you want a s'more?" Smalls: "I haven't had anything so how can I have some more of nothing?" Ham: "You're killing me Smalls!"

Bill is played by Denis Leary.

Answer: Kenny DeNunez

Kenny says this to Ham. Ham gets a strike so he says something about Kenny's pitching. Kenny then replies, "This is my heater. I dare you to hit it." Ham does hit it and gets a home run that goes over Mr. Mertle's fence.

Answer: He was hit in the head with a pitch

Once Smalls and Benny save the Beast from under the fence that fell on him and return him to his owner, they are invited inside. They talk with the Beast's owner for a while and they learn that he used to play baseball as well and therefore, knew Babe Ruth when he was alive. We learn that during a game, he was hit in the head with a pitch, went blind, and was no longer able to play. He says that he would have been really good if he had gotten to play longer.

Answer: Wendy Peffercorn

You first hear her name when she is walking down the street toward Squints and Yea-Yea. The movie goes into slow motion and Squints says her name slowly while he stares at her. Then, at the pool, since Wendy is a lifeguard there, Squints pretends to drown so Wendy will need to perform mouth-to-mouth on him. While she does, he kisses her. The result is them being banned from the pool forever. At the end of the movie, we learn that when Squints grew up, he married Wendy and they had 9 kids together.

Answer: Babe Ruth

It was signed by Babe Ruth, and was hit over the fence and taken by "The Beast". When the boys asked Smalls whose signature was on it, he replied, "It's some woman's name...Baby Ruth." They all yelled, "Babe Ruth!"

Bertram whips out a bag of chewing tobacco to celebrate their victory over their rivals. They all dip, and then ride a ride, causing most of them to throw up all over the place.

Answer: summer, 1962

Yeah it was summer of 1962. Obviously it was summer since all they said in the movie was that it was the best summer and they celebrated the 4th of July and all that summer stuff.

Answer: His glove was busted

Smalls did have a black eye, but he told Benny that he wouldn't go because his glove was busted.

Answer: Benny

Benny says this to Smalls after a ball signed by Babe Ruth goes over the fence into Mr. Mertle's backyard. When Smalls hears this he says that he thinks he's gonna be sick because it was his step-dad's ball.

Answer: Going to the pool

One day, the temperature is unusually hot and none of the boys, except for Benny, want to play. They decide, instead, to go to the pool and the narration says that "...going to the pool was what Benny tolerated best."

Answer: Forever

This is one of the more famous lines in the movie. During the campout the boys have, Squints tells the legend of the Beast to the group and we watch the story in flashbacks. Then, during the story, the police officer in the flashback tells the owner of the Beast how long he must keep the Beast locked up. He repeats the answer several times, syllable by syllable; "For-e-ver... For-e-ver..."

Answer: Getting out of a pickle

Benny was good at almost everything in baseball, but he was known for getting himself out of pickles when caught between third base and home plate.

He tells his mom that there is no time to make friends before summer. So before he goes to play baseball, he plays with his Erector Set.

Answer: Maury Wills broke the stolen base record

The entire movie had many connections to the Dodgers. Scotty mentions Wills in the opening scenes of the film, and we learn later that Benny plays for the Dodgers and Scotty is the team's announcer.

Answer: Babe Ruth

Yeah it was Babe Ruth. Benny Rodriguez was Benny, and Ham was the red-head. He grew up to be the Great Hambino, the wrestler. Smalls' step-father had a baseball autographed by "The Babe" but since Smalls didn't know who he even was, it got him into a lot of trouble. That comes later though.
