Answer: Mr. Mertle

The Sandlot kids bring the dog back to Mr. Mertle and he invites Benny and Smalls inside. They tell Mr. Mertle that the ball that went into his backyard was signed by Babe Ruth. He then says to Smalls, "I take it back. You're not in trouble, you're dead where you stand."

On the 4th of July, the sky is lit up with fireworks and it gives the boys just enough light to play. However, most of the boys are distracted by the fireworks too much to play well anyway. During this scene, we see Benny hit the ball and start to run but none of the fielders chase after it because they are too hypnotized by the fireworks.

Benny ended up playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers and was still known for getting himself out of pickles.

The baseball game was Giants vs. Dodgers. Smalls, now a newscaster, was keeping score and talking about the game, while Benny was playing on the Dodgers. He became known as Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez.

Smalls mistakenly thinks that Ham is offering him "some more" of nothing.

Benny tells Smalls to wear a t-shirt and jeans the next day. Benny also points to Smalls' hat and tells him to throw it in the fireplace. Benny then gives Smalls his old hat.

Benny is trying to help Smalls fit in, so after Smalls' first attempt at baseball, Benny walks home with him and before he leaves, Benny gives Smalls a glove to replace what Smalls calls "the plastic mitt his grandmother gave him" and a better hat. This new hat Benny gives to Smalls is a Chicago Cubs hat and Benny tells Smalls to throw his old hat in the fireplace.

Henry "Hank" Aaron is a baseball legend who hit 755 career home runs. This was the MLB record until Barry Bonds broke it in 2007. Once the boys figure they are unable to get the ball back, they head home for the night. That night, Benny has a dream that Babe Ruth comes out of his closet and has a conversation with him about his predicament. Babe Ruth eventually convinces Benny to hop the fence and get the ball, then he starts to leave. On his way out, he notices a Henry Aaron baseball card on Benny's dresser and asks if he can have it. The funny thing about this request is that Babe Ruth would not have even known who Henry Aaron was due to the fact that Babe Ruth was dead by the time Henry Aaron became a superstar.

They made smores, and Smalls had never had a smore. One of the guys asked him if he wanted a smore and he replied, "Some more? Some more of what? I haven't had anything yet!"

Mr. Mertle says that Scotty needs the ball more than he does. At first he asks if Scotty is in trouble, and then he finds out the ball that was ruined was signed by Babe Ruth. Benny is amazed with all the famous names on the baseball Mr. Mertle gave Scotty, like Babe Ruth.

Answer: "It's easy when you play with a bunch of rejects and a fat kid, Rodriguiz."

After Phillips says this, Benny says: "Shut your mouth, Phillips!"

Answer: He steals home to win the game

In the bottom of the ninth, he is inserted as a pinch runner. On the next pitch, he takes off and steals home to win the game.

Ham offers Smalls a s'more and Smalls misunderstands and thinks he said 'some more'. Ham then says, "You're killing me, Smalls." and then explains how to make a s'more.

Answer: Brandon Quintin Adams

Adams, born on August 22nd, 1979 in Topeka, Kansas, was cast as Kenny DeNunez. Kenny pitched for the sandlot kids and did not like Smalls at first since he did not think he could play baseball well. On Smalls' second day of playing baseball at the sandlot, Benny hit a baseball out to him and told him to throw it to the second baseman. Benny hit the ball fairly far since it got very close to the fence and this upset Kenny since he knew Hercules the dog on the other side of the fence would scare Smalls. Since Smalls did not know how to throw the baseball, he ran up to Kenny and gave him the baseball. Kenny was the one who pitched the "heater" ball which Ham hit over the fence and into Mr. Mertle's yard. Adams guest starred on the TV series "Moesha", "Boy Meets World" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air".

Their names are Tommy and Timmy Timmons. You first learn this while Benny is introducing all of the boys to Smalls. As it turns out, Timmy, the younger of the two, has a strange habit of repeating a lot of what his brother, Tommy, says.

They show Benny on third base and announce him as a pinch runner. On the pitch, he breaks for home and grown-up Smalls announces the play as he beats the tag and steals home.

When Squints told his story, he said that "The Beast" had to be locked up "For-ev-er, For-ev-er, For-ev-er." It's one of my favorite lines in the movie!

Their plans didn't work out very well. They had 5 failed attemps.
The only plan I didn't mention is when Yeah-Yeah went over the top of the fence to try to get the ball in Mr. Mertles yard.

After Smalls (while narrating) says, "And we did the stupidest thing any of us had ever done," Benny says, "Hey. It's all on me tonight."
