Answer: He was not hurt
Daniel 6:22 "My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt."
This shouldn't have surprised the Babylonians too much since Daniel's God was the same God that earlier had saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fiery furnace.

Daniel 3:12. Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah are the birth names of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They were given different names when they were taken captive into Babylon - so was Daniel apparently. (His Babylonian name is Belteshazzar.)

Answer: Some astrologers
When the music started everyone fell down and worshipped the statue. But some astrologers went to the king and told him that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego weren't worshipping the statue. They said that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were paying no attention to him and weren't serving his gods. This can be found in Daniel 3.

From Quiz: The book of Daniel : Chapter 1
Answer: The king couldn't tell them what he dreamed
In Daniel 2:1-4, two years after Nebuchadnezzar took captives from Jerusalem, he began having dreams. The dreams were so bad that he couldn't sleep, so he called his astrologers for help in interpreting the dream. There was only one problem. The astrologers couldn't interpret the dream because Nebuchadnezzar couldn't remember what he had dreamed. Because the astrologers couldn't tell Nebuchadnezzar what he had dreamed or what it meant, the king vowed to have them killed.
