"Ghostwriter" aired from 1992 to 1995. It featured a group of kids, mostly middle school aged with a couple of younger kids, who lived in Brooklyn, New York and solved mysteries together. They were aided by Ghostwriter, an unseen ghost who could only communicate with the kids through words and letters around them; Ghostwriter would rearrange the words and letters (for example, on a nearby sign or in kids' notebooks) to spell out messages.
When the series began, there were four main kids who were part of the Ghostwriter team: Jamal, Lenny, Alex and Gabby. Tina joined them for their second case, and a few others came and went through the rest of the series as well. One of the show's creators has said that Ghostwriter was meant to be an ancestor of Jamal's, a former slave who placed great importance on reading and writing. Fun fact: Samuel L.
