Chaney was interested in acting, much to the chagrin of his father. At his insistence, Chaney trained as a carpet layer and wallpaper hanger. He worked at these jobs in between acting gigs.

Answer: Nat King Cole

"The Nat King Cole Show" (1957) lasted one year on television. It was lacking sponsorship. Nat stated it was because "Madison Avenue is afraid of the dark". Nat was a three pack a day smoker. He died of lung cancer, at the age of 45, on February 15, 1965.

Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor was born on December 1, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois. He became known for his stand-up comedy acts. He wrote scripts for the "Sanford and Son" and the "Flip Wilson" comedy shows. He also starred in the films, "Blue Collar" (1978) and "Superman III" (1983).

After his death, he was given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the field of recording.

Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle (1887-1933) was a talented actor and director. A kingmaker in Hollywood, he helped Chaplin and discovered Buster Keaton and Bob Hope. A young actress whom Fatty Arbuckle had invited to a party in a hotel fell ill and died four days later.

He was charged with rape and manslaughter but was freed of all charges after some heavily publicized trials. His career was nonetheless virtually over after that. Dashiell Hammett went on to create Sam Spade and Nick and Nora Charles in his hard-boiled novels.

Comedian Bob Hope was born Leslie Townes Hope in Eltham, London. In 1919 at the age of sixteen he had four boxing bouts with a record of three wins and one loss.
Boxing didn't seem to suit him and in his early twenties, decided on a career in show business beginning with dancing lessons.

Tommy Cooper, magician and comedian, died on stage in 1984 and Dick Shawn, American actor/comedian died on stage in 1987.
