Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This "muggle" born was appointed UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in July 2014.

Answer: Emma Watson

Watson was only 24 years old when she was appointed to this post. Her main focus in the role would be to promote empowerment among young women and to advance the HeForShe campaign for gender equality. Emma stated that the call to serve was definitely a humbling experience and added that "the chance to make a real difference is not an opportunity that everyone is given and is one I have no intention of taking lightly." Prior to her elevation to the role she'd already shown a willingness to make a difference by promoting female youth education programmes and visiting countries such as Bangladesh and Zambia as part of the process.

A talented young actress, she rose to prominence in the role of Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" series of films. Her efforts in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001) enabled her to win the Young Artist Award for Best Leading Young Actor.
2. She may have had sex, she may have the city but she also became UNHCR's Goodwill Ambassador in 2017.

Answer: Kristin Davis

UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency, a cause that Kristin Davis had been supporting for three years prior to her appointment as their ambassador. Her role took her to Bangladesh to witness first hand the Rohingya refugee crisis. Shocked that half of the victims were children she'd front Congress on her return to Washington, to ensure that the US Government continued their support to these people. In 2019 she would travel to Kenya and South Africa to promote fundraising for the Made 51 project.

Davis is probably best known for her role as Charlotte in the HBO romantic comedy series "Sex and the City" (1998-2004), for which she received nominations for both the Emmy and Golden Globe awards. The revival of the stage show "The Best Man" (2012) would see her make her West End stage debut and she also features in the television series "And Just Like That..." (2021).

This was a programme that brought education opportunities to those most marginalized on the continent. Serena also threw her influence behind UNICEF's #EveryChildAlive campaign, an initiative to try and bring more affordable health care to mothers and their new born.

Serena is also well known as a business woman, her fashion labels and her philanthropy. She made herself known to the world as one of the greatest female tennis players to ever grace the courts, rising above adversity to win in excess of twenty Grand Slam titles.

When word got out and, thanks to the dedication of her supporters, this number soon swelled to 250,000. That is the sort of dedication this fantastic woman has toward this cause.

Her aim is to leave the planet in a better state than when she arrived in it. No doubt it helps her cause that in 2009 she was appointed a global goodwill ambassador for the UN's Environment Programme. She has used her presence, her position and her power to loudly voice her protest at the deforestation of the once mighty Amazon forests. 8. She put in the hours with the grace of Monaco and was named a UN Goodwill Ambassador in 2006.

Answer: Nicole Kidman

Accepting the role of the UN's Women Goodwill Ambassador has enabled Nicole to speak out and raise awareness on the infringement of women's rights. The cause most dear to her in this regard was the violence conducted against women. It is estimated that this affects one in three women globally. She was quick to use her voice to support the UN Women's Say NO-UNiTE to End Violence against Women initiative. In her travels with the UN she would meet numerous women who had to surmount enormous obstacles to try and effect change and was moved by their efforts. In her own words "To me, these women embody resilience, strength, dignity-and hope."

As an actress, Kidman first garnered international attention with the release of the 1989 Australian psychological thriller "Dead Calm". This opened the doors to further films such as "Far and Away" (1992), "To Die For" (1995) and "Grace of Monaco" (2014). She would be Oscar nominated for "Moulin Rouge" (2002) and win the Academy Award for Best Actress for "To Die For" (2003).

Aside from winning the Miss World pageant in 2000, Chopra is one of the highest paid entertainers in India, winning two National Film Award and five Filmfare Awards. "Time" magazine listed her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016.
10. Her hips didn't lie when she became a UNICEF ambassador in 2003.

Answer: Shakira

Achieving international success has provided Shakira with the power and the resources to help create foundations that could alleviate concerns that were close to her heart, namely the plight of vulnerable children and their means for an education. In 1997 she set up the Pies Descalzos (Barefeet) foundation, through which she funded the establishment of a school, the first, in her home town of Barranquilla in Colombia. In Panama she was one of the collaborators that helped to set up the ALAS Foundation who also provide support in the areas of early childhood education and assistance in helping to ease malnutrition in South American children.

These works brought Shakira to the attention of UNICEF in 2003 who now use her profile and influence to bring awareness of the plight of children on a global scale.

Shakira, often called the "Queen of Latin Music", began recording at the age of thirteen. She recovered from the failure of her first two recordings to achieve success in Hispanic nations. International success followed on the heels of her fifth album, "Laundry Service" (2001), which was her first to approach the English speaking market. It sold in excess of thirteen million copies globally. Some of her major singles releases were "Whenever, Wherever" (2001), "Underneath Your Clothes" (2002) and "Hips Don't Lie" (2006).
