Shirley Hemphill (1947-1999) was best known for her role as waitress Shirley Wilson on the television series, "What's Happening!!" (1976-1979), and its sequel, "What's Happening Now!!" (1985-1988). The North Carolina native began her entertainment career as a stand-up comedian and made occasional television guest appearances from the 1970s to the 1990s.
She also briefly headlined her own television series, "One in a Million", in 1980.
