Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I had the hairstyle known as "The Rachel". I played the role of Rachel Green in "Friends". I was in the movies, "Just Go With It" and "Horrible Bosses". Who am I?

Answer: Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer had the hottest hairstyle in the 90s. The hairstylist who came up with the Rachel was Chris McMillan. Chris mentioned that he was trying something "a bit different". He decided to layer the heck out of it and start from the roots. This is not an easy hairstyle to maintain. Little did he realize that the hair style - and her role as Rachel on "Friends" (1994-2004) would be famous for years!

Jennifer was in the 2011 movie, "Just Go With It" with Adam Sandler. She played the character, Katherine, who pretended to being married to Adam. She was also in "Horrible Bosses" the same year, with Jason Bateman, and played a completely different and funny character. She played the roll of Dr. Julia Harris, one of the horrible bosses to her assistants in her dentist office.
2. Everyone always loved my curls! You may hear me sing, "On the Good Ship Lollipop". I was in the 1937 movie, "Heidi". Who am I?

Answer: Shirley Temple

Shirley's mother was the hairstylist for this little girl. She would put 56 curls exactly on her head. Shirley was not only known for her adorable curls, but also a non-alcoholic drink called the "Shirley Temple". One of my fondest memories of Shirley is when she danced with Bill Robinson in "The Little Colonel" (1935). She was always about smiling with her adorable little dimples and 56 curls.

Shirley sang and made the song "On the Good Ship Lollipop" famous in the the 1934 movie, "Bright Eyes" with James Dunn. Shirley played the role of Heidi and lived with her grandfather in the mountains in Switzerland. I still recall her saying, "Oh grandfather", in this 1937 version of "Heidi".

Shirley stopped acting and became became an ambassador in 1974. She passed away in 2014.
3. Everyone remembers my poster with my flowing long blonde locks! I was one of "Charlie's Angels". I was married at one time to Lee Majors. Who am I?

Answer: Farrah Fawcett

The super popular poster in 1979 can be seen in the movie, "Saturday Night Fever" with John Travolta. His father gawks at the poster on his son's wall. Her hair was known as the best hair style in the early 70s. The style of the hair was called the "antigravity hairstyle" according to Paul Glick. The cut takes a lot of hair and a lot of hot curlers and a whole bunch of layers. Now toss your hair like her character in "Charlie's Angels", private investigator Jill Munroe, and you have it perfected!

Farrah was nominated for an Emmy in the movie, "The Burning Bed" based on a true story about an abused woman. She didn't win in 1985, but was outstanding for her role.

Farrah Fawcett Majors was only married one time to Lee Majors for nine years. The marriage ended in a divorce in 1982 and the Majors was removed from her name.
4. I'm known for my black, bold, slick, short hair. I was born in Jamaica. I was in the movie, "A View to a Kill". Who am I?

Answer: Grace Jones

Grace Jones moved from Jamaica when she was 13 years old. She had a stint as a model but ventured out into acting and then on to a musical career in 1977. Her hairstyle was worn in the famous high top cut, straight across. It almost appears like you could take a ruler and cut across, like you were edging a bush. She wore it perfectly, though, and it fit her to a T! Grace never really had a stylist for her hair, just using her own judgement and personality.

She wasn't really in many movies, but you could see her as May Day, the bad lady, in the James Bond movie, "A View to a Kill" (1985) with Roger Moore. She was nominated for a Saturn Award for her role in this movie. Award nominations are nothing new to her, as she also received a Grammy nomination for Best Video Album in 1984.
5. I had the cutest, short, blonde pixie cut in the 1960s. I was an English model known as "The Face of 66". My real name is Lesley Hornby. What is my model name?

Answer: Twiggy

Lesley Hornby was born in September 1949 in England. She picked up the nickname, "Twigs" due to her thin figure when she was growing up. She dated Nigel Davies, who was a hairstylist and wanted to change her nickname from Twigs to Twiggy. Twiggy was discovered by the local newspaper (who wrote an article about her), after which she gained fame for appearing on the cover of "Paris Vogue" magazine in 1967. She modeled from 1965 to 1970.

She got her hair cut at Leonard of Mayfair; they cut it short, in what some people call the "pixie" look, while others called it a "boyish" kind of look. It was cut short and almost choppy with very dark and long eyelashes added to her look. Everyone wanted a body and a hairstyle like Twiggy. She donned the mini skirts and just collected those checks as she posed for picture after picture on the runway. Some say that Twiggy was actually the first supermodel.
6. I was known for my beehive hairstyle. I had a lot of hit songs including, "Rehab". I died from alcohol poisoning in 2011. Who am I?

Answer: Amy Winehouse

Amy, born in England in 1983, was not only a very deep and awesome singer, but was also known for her high beehive bouffant style of hair. She had no problem working this style. It fit her perfectly! The higher she could tease it up, the better! Brigitte Bardot was her inspiration.

Amy had her entire life, her career in front of her. She had already received over 20 nominations for Grammy awards. Yet, she struggled for years with addiction to drugs and drinking. Sadly, the only flowers we will see are on her grave and not in her hair. Amy passed away at the young age of 27 in 2011 in London from alcohol poison.

Amy wrote the song, "Rehab" and it was released in October of 2006. It won the Grammy Song of the Year in 2008.
"They tried to make me go to rehab
But I said, No no no..."
7. I had the best sideburns and hair style that any man could have. I married a lady named Priscilla. I ain't a hound dog. Who am I?

Answer: Elvis

Put a pair of gold sunglasses on this guy. Slick back his hair with a comb. Make sure those sideburns are nice and thick. Now one last curl in the front to finish it off. Elvis went to his hair stylist and wanted some changes. He left with jet black hair and the famous pompadour style.

Elvis placed a ring on Priscilla Beaulieu's finger in 1967. The marriage lasted until 1973, but he had a beautiful baby girl, Lisa Marie, with Priscilla.

Elvis had a string of hit songs, including "Blue Suede Shoes", "Teddy Bear" and the another famous tune, "Hound Dog", in 1956. This song has been recorded by many celebrities over the years, but Elvis is credited with the most famous version.
8. Everyone loved my "blonde bombshell" 40s/50s hairstyle. I sang "Happy Birthday" to Mr. President. My real name is Norma Jean. Who am I?

Answer: Marilyn

Marilyn, born Norma Jeane Mortenson, was a celebrity who many tried to copy, but many failed. In just the few 36 years that she was on earth, she made quite an impact on many lives with the dreamy eyes, the blonde perfect hairstyle, and that voice!

Marilyn was known as the "blonde bombshell" but rumored to have brown and even red hair. She would pin her hair to the top of her head with all sorts of pins and set the glamorous curls just to make the gorgeous shoulder length hairstyle that we saw every day. This was the part that really made the whole Marilyn effect. She had the figure, the voice, but it was the blonde locks that perfected her image.

I don't think anyone will ever forget the way that Marilyn sang "Happy Birthday" to JFK on May 19, 1962. She had attended an after birthday party for the president, wearing a special dress that is said to have been sewn on her for the occasion.
9. I'm known to wear big blonde bouffant beautiful wigs all the time. I have worked in "9 to 5". I also worked in the "Best Little Whorehouse..." Who am I?

Answer: Dolly Parton

Dolly has it all! Movies, television shows, slot machines in Vegas named after her, music awards, theme parks, and more! She can play many instruments also, including the guitar and violin.

She was asked years ago why the wigs. She replied, "it was her character". She created her icon herself - a large breasted woman with big blonde hair to go with it. It worked! Dolly has even started to market her own wig collection with IMG. Dolly did admit that sometimes, very seldom, she doesn't wear a wig, but she pulls out the comb and teases up the hair that she does have. She likes big hair!

I think my favorite movie with Dolly was "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" (1982) with Burt Reynolds, where she played the owner of the Chicken Ranch, a brothel, and he played the town sheriff. They just looked like they had so much fun making that movie. But when she sang "I Will Always Love You" to him, it just brings a person to tears, with her country western accent and the way she sings it.

In the movie, "9 to 5" (1980), she played a secretary with a little over the top nasty old boss. She got together with a few of her co-workers, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, and taught him a little lesson.
10. I love wearing wild and sassy wigs! The bigger the better! I was married to a man named Ike. I'm "Rolling on the river..." Who am I?

Answer: Tina Turner

Tina is known for outlandish and wild wigs that she wears. She calls it a "Special Bond" that she has with her wigs. Tina has all kinds of wigs from wavy to punk to pop to totally wild! She loves tinting them with colors and shades.

Tina was born in 1939 in a little town of Nutbush, Tennessee. She met Ike Turner and married him in 1962. He was abusive in the relationship and she finally divorced him in 1978. "What's Love Got to do With It" (1993) was based on her life with Ike and the abusive relationship.

Tina was awarded over 150 different awards for her music, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. She also was nominated numerous times and once for a Golden Globe for the song, "We Don't Need Another Hero" for the movie, "Thunderdome" in 1986. But probably her most celebrated song is "Proud Mary". John Fogerty wrote the song in 1969, but Tina brought it to fame in 1971 with her amazing dancing moves voice!
