1. Who was third in chips at the beginning of the final table?

Answer: Scott Montgomery

Dennis Phillips started the final table with 26,950,000 chips, followed by Demidov with 24,400,000, then the correct answer of Scott Montgomery with 19,690,000, and finally Eastgate rounded out the top 4 with 18,375,000.
2. Who was the only player considered to be an established pro at the final table?

Answer: David Rheem

David "Chino" Rheem was the only player at the final table with any WSOP final table experience, having made two final tables - one in 2006 and one this year in a prior event (Event 4).
3. Which player of the November Nine also made the final table of the WSOP Europe Main Event?

Answer: Ivan Demidov

Demidov became the first player to make it to both final tables. He finished third in Europe. He also won two events in Russia in between making it into the November Nine and making it to the final table of the WSOPE.

There were four US born players (Phillips, Rheem, Schwartz, and Marquis) and five foreign born players - one from Russia (Demidov), one from Denmark (Eastgate), one from Korea (Kim), one from Indonesia (Suharto), and one from Canada (Montgomery). Therefore 6 nationalities were represented at the final table. It truly was a World Series.

Answer: Peter Eastgate and Craig Marquis

Eastgate was 22 and Marquis was 23. Hellmuth won it at the age of 24.

Answer: 1989 - Johnny Chan

Johnny Chan was going for his third Main Event win in a row when Hellmuth defeated him heads up.

As the chip leader at the beginning of the final table Phillips started out roughly dropping far down the leader board but then recovered to finish in third place and win $4.5 million.
9. Who won the Main Event?

Answer: Peter Eastgate

Eastgate, 22, broke Hellmuth's record by becoming the youngest player to win the Main Event. Hellmuth's record had stood for 19 years.
10. What was the last year that an established poker pro won the Main Event?

Answer: 2001

In 2001 Carlos Mortenson was the last pro to win the Main Event. Since then an amateur or unknown player has won the title each year. Robert Varkonyi was the first in 2002. Then in 2003 Chris Moneymaker won after qualifying online. His win catapulted the Main Event into a huge phenomenon with thousands of amateurs entering, making it the biggest poker tournament held each year.

This became known as "The Moneymaker Effect".
