Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I am one of the most well-known and successful poker players in the world and got knocked out 11th, just missing the final table.

Answer: Daniel Negreanu

In 2001 Daniel Negreanu finished 11th in the Main Event. 14 years later he found himself once again deep in the Main Event with a chance to better that result. But it was not to be and Daniel once again bowed out in 11th place. Daniel took a flop holding Ah4d with the chip leader Joe McKeehan holding Jd3d.

The flop was an action flop - AdKcTd. Although Daniel had the lead with 2 aces, Joe had 12 outs. The turn gave Joe even more outs when the 3h came. Joe now had 15 outs. The Qh fell on the river giving Joe Broadway and the win. Daniel won $526,778 for his deep run.
2. I share my name with the 2014 Olympic Figure Skating Silver Medalist. My time at the final table only lasted two hands.

Answer: Patrick Chan

Patrick Chan entered the final table in eighth chip position with just 6.225 million chips. McKeehan was on the button when the action folded to him and he found an ace in the hole. With his massive chip lead he pushed all-in forcing the two smallest stacks in the blinds to make a decision for their tournament lives. Chan in the small blind called holding KsQc while Butteroni folded. Chan did not improve on the run out and left the final table after only two hands.

He won $1,001,020 for making the final table.
3. I am only the second Italian to make a Main Event final table. Although a short stack I made the most of it lasting about three hours.

Answer: Federico Butteroni

Butteroni entered the final table with only 6.2 million chips. He was never able to catch many hands and his stack slowly dwindled. Finally three hours into the final table he found ace jack in the hole. He pushed all-in and unfortunately ran into McKeehan who called holding ace king. Butteroni did not improve and was knocked out in eighth place for $1,097,056.
4. I am 72 years old and the second oldest player ever to make a Main Event final table. Poker is my second career after a successful life in business.

Answer: Pierre Neuville

Pierre Neuville took up poker as a hobby after retiring as a top executive at Hasbro. His hobby turned into a second career and he was a constant presence on the EPT circuit. He entered the final table fourth in chips but ran bad for most of the time.

His final hand was a brutal bad beat. Holding AcJc Pierre pushed all-in over a McKeehan raise. McKeehan was priced in and made the call. The flop was favorable to Pierre with QdTd3h but the turn of Qh gave Joe nine outs. The Th on the river sealed Pierre's fate and gave Joe a flush. Pierre won $1,203,293.
5. Day two or actually night two of the final table saw my pocket Aces get cracked in brutal fashion and I was left dumbstruck.

Answer: Thomas Cannuli

As happened on the first night of the final table, a player went out on the second hand. Cannuli found himself with pockets Aces and a customer in Max Steinberg who had pockets Tens. Cannuli raised under the gun and Max pushed all-in from the big blind after giving it much thought. Cannuli insta-called. Max saw the bad news but fortune was on his side and he hit a ten on the flop to take a commanding lead in the hand. Cannuli's dream turned into a nightmare as the board ran out without an ace and he was eliminated in sixth place for $1,426,283.
6. I am an Israeli businessman and amateur poker player. I started the final table second in chips.

Answer: Zvi Stern

Zvi Stern's unorthodox play kept his opponents guessing but an ill-timed bluff against Josh Beckley cost him half his stack while doubling up Josh. Holding ace jack Stern bet most of his stack only to have Neil Blumenfield move all-in holding ace king. Stern called but failed to improve while Neil caught king on the turn to end Stern's hopes. Stern won $1,911,423 for his fifth place finish.
7. I was the only previous WSOP bracelet winner at this year's final table. I play fantasy sports for a living.

Answer: Max Steinberg

Max's luck finally ran out on hand 143 of the final table. McKeehan raised under the gun holding ace queen. Max pushed all-in holding ace jack from the big blind and was quickly called by Joe. Max saw he was dominated and failed to improve as the board ran out. Max was eliminated in fourth place for $2,615,361.

Max was the only player at the final table who had won a previous WSOP bracelet. In 2012 he won a $1,000 buy-in No Limit Hold'em Event. Max has switched from playing poker to playing fantasy sports and won his ticket through DraftKings. He turned a $27 investment on DraftKings into a $2.6 million dollar payday.
8. I am a 61 year old amateur player from San Francisco and showed I could hang with the pros by my aggressive play on night one of the final table.

Answer: Neil Blumenfield

Neil Blumenfield entered the final table with the third largest chip stack but also as one of the least experienced players. During the first night of the final table his aggressive play earned him rave reviews and he proved he could hold his own against the others.

He made it to day three of the final table before finally falling at the hands of McKeehan. On hand 172 Neil ran his pocket deuces into Joe's pocket queens and was eliminated. He won $3,398,298 for his third place finish.
9. Although I entered the final as a shorter stack, I was able to get heads up for the title.

Answer: Josh Beckley

Josh Beckley started the final table with a short stack in seventh place. He and McKeehan had tangled days earlier in a hand that would have sent Joe home when his ace queen was dominated by Josh's ace king. But Joe caught a queen and survived the all-in.

Josh fought his way back from his short stack at the beginning of the final table but by the time they got heads Joe's lead was insurmountable. Beckley held pocket fours against Joe's ace ten. Joe hit a ten on the flop and Josh failed to pick up a four on the turn or river. Josh won $4,470,896 for his second place finish.
10. I dominated the latter stages of the Main Event and was never threatened at the final table. I am this year's world champion.

Answer: Joe McKeehen

Joe started the final table with a commanding chip lead. His lead was never threatened and his final table performance was one of the most dominating ever seen. He won 16 of the 19 hands that he went to showdown with, an unbelievable stat. Joe eliminated eight of the last ten players to be eliminated in the tournament, starting with Negreanu and ending with Beckley. Joe won $7,683,346 and the bracelet.
