"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Season Eight- Part 2 Quiz

Answer: "People who love me tend to, oh, die."

This was in "A Beautiful Sunset". Buffy came to aid Satsu, and during the fight told her that she knew Satsu was in love with her. Satsu's true love kiss had woken Buffy in an earlier issue from a magical coma. So, Buffy knew that what Satsu felt was more than a mere crush. Buffy went on to tell the slayer that she felt good for herself about Satsu's affections, but worried about Satsu's safety.
Buffy to Satsu: "People who love me tend to, oh die..maybe go to a hell dimension, or burn up, or they start letting vamps suck on 'em and they leave. they all leave, even my friends, sooner or later everybody realizes there's something wrong..something wrong with me, or around me, or..."
It was in season two's "Surprise" that Buffy told Willow she needed to stop "waiting for Xander to wake up and smell the hottie."

Answer: the scythe

Xander and Renee were standing guard when the wolves first approached. While Xander made jokes and worked up the courage to ask Renee out on a date, Buffy and Satsu were basking in the afterglow of their first time. Little by little, each of her closest people found out about her experience with Satsu. First it was Xander and Renee, who'd come to her room to report the wolves.

Then, it was Andrew, who'd flown in with Willow and was feeling the after effects of a dose of Dramamine. Not longer after, Willow literally crash landed into the room as Dawn (still a giant) peeked in the window from outside.

She'd been sleeping in the barn when a swarm of bees came upon her. Of course.. they weren't real bees at all..

Answer: a centaur

Dawn told Xander that she felt like a freak. He told her he was jealous and that she looked amazing. That was just like Xander to make Dawn feel special while he dealt with his pain over Renee's death. Also in this issue, Buffy met someone new- Melaka.

Answer: they were almost totally extinct.

Buffy was in the FAR future! Melaka Fray, one of only two remaining slayers, had a hard time believing Buffy was who she claimed to be. She told Buffy that it had been about "ten cen" since Buffy's time. She also told her that all the slayers had been eliminated back in Buffy's time and she was the first one called since then! Well, she admitted she was half of the newest slayer.. she had a twin who was also a slayer.. a twin brother! The first male slayer called and he was on the wrong side! His name was Harth and Melaka said he was a lurk- also known as a vampire!

Answer: Willow

I am not not sure what Melaka's term "ten cen" meant, as Willow told Buffy it had been 200 years since their time. When she revealed she was pulling all the strings, Willow stated that the most important thing about death was "who killed you". And, in the end Buffy had to kill this evil future Willow to get through the portal back to her own time. It was what Willow wanted all along. Real time Willow had been instructed to wear a blindfold before she snatched Buffy back through time, and it prevented her from seeing her evil self dead.

Meanwhile, Xander and Dawn had to battle the weird forest creatures outside their castle!

Answer: Riley

Buffy fell asleep, dirty and smelly from her previous battle in the future, in Xander's bed. He tried to stop her from falling asleep, but she was able to get in four whole seconds before his voice woke her. In that sweet four second black-out she dreamed she was back at Sunnydale High at the time she first moved to town.

Her mom called her down to get ready for school, and when she didn't come, Joyce and Dawn appeared at her doorway. Buffy was excited to see her mom again, dead now for several years, and she happily went off to school.

There she encountered Xander, Willow, Snyder, Cordelia and Harmony. Later, she and the Scoobies found Giles, who warned of vamps trying to raise a dragon named Morgala. After a quick chat with Angel, Buffy saved the day, and crashed landed into Cordelia's party.

Then she was called back to reality by the sound of Xander's beckoning voice. And though she was happy to be back to reality, a part of her was sad to leave the past behind.

Answer: Harmony Bites

"Harmonic Divergence" was the twenty-first issue of season eight. Released in January 2009 and written by long-time "Buffy" alum Jane Espenson, the issue held true the on-screen personality of our favorite vampiric ditz, Harmony Kendall. Harmony pitched the idea of a reality show that followed her as she bit people, but didn't kill or turn them. MTV loved the idea and "Harmony Bites" was born! Buffy and Willow discovered this at the same time a new slayer came on to the scene. Andrew tried to recruit the new slayer as the new reality show aired weeknights at 7pm.

Answer: Clem

Clem made his first appearance on the TV series in season six, as a pal of Spike's. He even watched Dawn when Spike was away, so Buffy could deal with some end of the world hijinks. He was seen in issue 21 as Harmony's sidekick, as she perused a tattoo parlor for an on-screen inking session.

The name of the tattoo joint was Do You Ink I'm Sexy. Clem stood off to the side holding Harmony's three Pomeranians. The newest slayer, a sixteen year old Spanish Californian, attacked Harmony on air at a party hosted for her by MTV. Sadly, the attack caused widespread sympathy for vampires and Harmony was interviewed by Anderson Cooper at the end of the issue. I smell trouble for the slayer population!

Answer: Kennedy

Satsu was still in mourning over her ill-conceived romance with Buffy. Kennedy volunteered to do an evil on the newly appointed team leader Satsu. Satsu believed Buffy had "sent" the "other" lesbian slayer after her to make her feel better and/or check up on her. Kennedy made it clear that Satsu needed to move on.

She said Buffy was hetero, despite a step into the lesbian wading pool. Satsu had a hard time believing that their romance wasn't spiritual for them both, but Kennedy assured her that for Buffy it was only physical.

Answer: Twilight

The stuffed toys were vampire cats. All things fanged had been made popular by the "half-wit" vampire Harmony Kendall. Twilight had fashioned a vampiric kitten under the guise of Santorio Corp. He sent one out to infect the slayers and suss out the location of their headquarters.

It invaded Satsu and learned that Scotland was home base. Satsu and Kennedy led a slayer team out to sea and destroyed the stuffed menace. It was there they learned Twilight was behind this latest assault. "Swell" ended with Satsu coming to terms with Buffy's extreme lack of lesbianism.

She discarded her "cinnamon" lip gloss as Harmony was being interviewed by Larry King as a vampire rights spokeswoman!
