Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Hair has always been used as a means of adornment with the oldest evidence of braiding dating back to 30,000 years ago in the Palaeolithic Age. Apart from individual fashion, cultural and religious norms have (and continue to) dictate how both men and women display their hair. In some cultures, women, especially married women, do not show their hair to outsiders. Adherents of the Sikh faith refuse to have their hair cut due to religious reasons.

Some hairstyles have become more famous than others. The bouffant aims to make hair appear heightened and fuller at the front, while for the beehive, hair is piled at the top of the head resembling the structure it is named after.

With mohawks, hair is shaved from the sides and the back with only a strip of hair left in the centre. This is then generally spiked with gel or other products.

The Pompadour was named after Madame de Pompadour, mistress of King Louis XV and has been adopted by both men and women. In this style, hair is swept up from the face and piled high over the forehead.

The bob cut has been around for ages. It's a short hairstyle for women with no layers. The Pageboy is a slightly longer version of the bob with a fringe.

For bangs, a fringe is left covering the forehead. This may be straight or with a slight curve.

Archaeological evidence indicates that the mullet was adopted as far back as the 1st century AD. It is commonly described as "Business in the front, party in the back" as the hair is worn short in the front and long at the back.

The Ducktail was made famous by Elvis Presley. In the front, the hair was styled like the Pompadour while the sides on the back were combed in such a way that they resembled the folded wings of a duck.

'The Rachel' is a more contemporary hairstyle named after the character of Rachel Green played by Jennifer Aniston on the hit television show "Friends".

Of the incorrect options, bell-bottoms are pants that are flared at the hem, a beret is a soft, flat cap, and a tutu is a costume worn by ballerinas. Salmon is a type of fish and a shade of pink. Voltaire was a French philosopher but he didn't give his name to any hairstyle.
