Ash's Bulbasaur took a group of Bulbasaurs as they were headed to the hidden garden. Ash and friends witnessed n once-in-a-lifetime event as they saw the Bulbasaurs evolving into Ivysaurs, except for Ash's Bulbasaur. Team Rocket started snatching the Ivysaurs while making fun of Ash's Bulbasaur which quickly learned Solar Beam.

Ash and friends were walking when they notice some Pokémon banners flying (a Goldeen, Magikarp and Gyarados) so they knew it was Kid's Day. When a nursery teacher approached and asked them if the kids could play with their Pokémon, they all agree, while James remember the fun times of Kid's Day and Jessie recalls having a horrible day.

The kids at the nursery played with their Pokémon while a young boy wanted to play with a Meowth.

Ash and friends encountered a robber with a gun while walking, then Officer Jenny and a herd of Growlithe appeared. Ash decided that he and Pikachu could become Pokémon police officers, but learned how hard it was. Team Rocket showed up and used gases from Gloom and Psyduck to eliminate everyone's sense of smell and make their voices very high pitched.

Ash and friends were enjoying a nice peaceful day eating rice balls when Ash heard something. Ash thought someone was in the bushes trying to shoot at them so he panicked and protected his friends, but they verbally attacked him. When they went back to the breeding center, they made a shocking discovery as Team Rocket was there to steal the breeding center's Pokémon. James was surprised to see that his Weepinbell evolved into Victreebel.

Ash and friends were on a cruise ship towards Cinnabar Island when Ash was shocked to learn that it was nothing but a tourist attraction and that there was no Pokémon gym there. Ash and friends tried to spend the night at the Pokémon Center, but it was completely filled with tourists.

They all stayed at the Big Riddle Inn where they got some food and enjoyed the wonderful hot springs. Togepi stood on a stone Gyarados head which revealed the location of the Cinnabar Island gym.

After nearly falling into the volcano's lava, Ash forfeited his gym battle against Blaine as he scrubbed Pikachu while staying at the Big Riddle Inn's hot springs. Team Rocket attacked, blasting the volcano with ice which triggered a volcanic eruption. Ash and friends stopped the eruption in time as Blaine rewarded Ash with another Pokémon gym battle on top of the Volcano. Ash's Charizard beat Blaine's Magmar, earning him the Volcano Badge.

Ash and friends were running, as they didn't want to be stuck on Cinnabar Island anymore, when a wild Wartortle appearred and knocked into Ash. Ash and friends had a hard time understanding Wartortle until Pikachu released Squirtle from its Pokéball. Ash and friends follow the turtle Pokémon to an island of nothing but Squirtles and Wartortles, with Blastoise as its leader. Ash and friends battled Team Rocket when they learned that Jigglypuff was stuck in one of Blastoise's cannons.
