The Washington Generals played under several different names, to give the illusion of actually being different teams. They would rotate between being the Washington Generals, New Jersey Reds, Boston Shamrocks, Atlantic City Seagulls and Baltimore Rockets. Between 1953 and 1995, they toured with the Harlem Globetrotters as their opponents, and played as a foil to the Globetrotters' athletic and comedic feats. During those years, the Generals won 6 games, and lost over 13,000.

In 1995 Klotz did away with the Generals, and created a new team - the New York Nationals, who were in fact the former Generals.

They continued their incredible losing streak until 2007, when they once again became the Washington Generals.

Unfortunately, his fame and fortune enabled him to live an indulgent and reckless playboy lifestyle, which eventually caught up to him.

He died in 1959 at the relatively young age of 50.

General of the Armies is the highest rank possible in the United States Army. General Pershing achieved that rank in 1919 for his performance during World War I. He is the only officer to have received that honor during his own lifetime. George Washington was named General of the Armies (with higher seniority) in 1976. The second-highest rank, that of General of the Army, has been achieved by just five officers. Dwight D. Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, Douglas MacArthur, George Marshall and Henry H. Arnold.

Henry H. Arnold also held the rank of General of the Air Force, and is the only officer to hold that rank in the Air Force, and the only officer to hold a five-star rank in two separate branches of the military.
