This was perhaps the best known of the spy novels that were popular during the cold war days. Len Deighton wrote some others, including 'The Ipcress File'. Charteris wrote 'The Saint'.
2. Richard Nixon made his reputation in the Alger Hiss case. What happened to Hiss?

Answer: Sent to prison after a second trial (caused by a hung jury in the first trial)

He served about four years in prison before being let out. His guilt is uncertain.
3. Who starred in the tv series 'Secret Agent'?

Macnee was in 'The Avengers'. Culp, along with Bill Cosby, was in 'I Spy'. Vaughn was in 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
