1. Well, it is early and a latte or espresso may be in order, so I am off to find a drive-through coffee shop that was founded in 1971 in Seattle, Washington. What big-name shop am I looking for?

Answer: Starbucks

Starbucks - which was named after a character from "Moby Dick" - opened on March 30th, 1971, as a single-location coffee shop. After successful growth, and sale of the chain, a period of rapid expansion ensued and the company went international. The first Starbucks opened outside the US was in Tokyo, Japan in 1996.

In addition to coffee, the chain also markets various items such as coffee mugs, books, and music.

2. I'm in Congruity, Pennsylvania, and there was a very unique drive-through here - the first and possibly only of its kind in America. While I would have been here to see a show, it was not a drive-in movie theater, nor a drive-through video store. And, it was definitely an adults-only establishment. Can you guess what type of drive-through I would have found?

Answer: strip club

Opened in 2000, by Nick Fratangelo, the drive-through strip club was quickly a media target, and reportedly attracted visits by several well-known American celebrities. The club is reportedly closed, but there have also been reports that it remains open, though up for sale. Congruity is in Westmoreland County, which is located in southwestern Pennsylvania. And, Pennsylvania has the distinction of having the nation's first zoo - The Philadelphia Zoo, which was chartered in 1859, and opened in 1874.

3. I was intrigued when I read about an unusual drive-through, where I could speak to a United States public official without even getting out of my car. State Representative Kevin Murphy, who assumed office in 2009, installed a drive-through in his office for easier interaction with constituents, in which 'keystone' state?

Answer: Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is named after William Penn, who was granted the land by England's King Charles II, as a repayment for a debt owed to Penn's father - Admiral William Penn. William Penn did not choose the naming of the land, and was actually against the choice, but was unable to change the king's decision.

The Declaration of Independence was drawn up and signed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

4. I'm in the Windy City, and I'm visiting a famous drive-through here. At night this drive-through is brilliantly lit - with a huge neon guitar atop the building. If I chose to go inside I could visit the small museum upstairs, or go next door to view the rock and roll museum, but I am using the drive-through. I am waiting to order a burger with special sauce at which fast food franchise?

Answer: McDonald's

The Rock and Roll McDonald's was opened in Chicago in 1983, and quickly became a popular tourist attraction. The company's signature sandwich is the Big Mac - with 'two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun'. McDonald's installed its first drive-through in Arizona in 1975, to accommodate personnel from a nearby military base. Outside the USA, their drive-throughs are known by several other names, including McAuto, Pay and Drive, McDrive and AutoMAC.

5. New Orleans is my next stop, and I have to try a drive-through that I have heard about. There are several of them around here - and they serve alcoholic drinks to go. The drink I plan to order comes in several flavors, but I intend to order the original, which contains white rum, lime juice, sugar and cracked ice. Do you know which drink I am ordering?

Answer: Daiquiri

Daiquiris are made with white rum - which is mainly produced in Puerto Rico. White rum, which is made from sugar cane, has a very mild flavor which makes it an ideal liquor for some cocktails. The most popular daiquiri flavors in the USA are the original, strawberry, and the frozen varieties.

In addition to Louisiana, several other states allow drive-through liquor stores and drink shops. A couple of the bigger ventures are Texas' Beer Barns and Margarita Houses.

6. I'm sitting outside The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, but I am only going to watch their drive-through in action. My mother told me that she was here back in 1958 when a famous actor and actress tied the knot - without even getting out of their car! That same year those stars appeared in "The Long Hot Summer" and "Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys!". Do you know which couple this was?

Answer: Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward appeared in ten films together, and Woodward also appeared in five films that Newman produced or directed. They were married from 1958 until Newman's death in 2008. In addition to acting, both invested considerable time and money in philanthropic causes, including their "Hole in the Wall Gang Camp" - a non-profit summer camp and year-round center they established (along with A.E. Hotchner) in 1988 for gravely ill children and their families. While there are several drive-through wedding chapels in Las Vegas, The Little White Wedding Chapel - which opened in 1951 - has been the chapel of choice for several celebrity couples, including Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.

7. I am in Texas, enjoying a drive-through safari! I have seen so many exotic animals here that I am at a loss to pick a favorite. However, I have narrowed my choices down to three - the barasingha, muntjac and sambar, all of which were - according to my brochure - imported from India. Do you know which graceful member of the Cervidae family may be my favorite here?

Answer: deer

The barasingha is also known as the swamp deer, and in addition to India, can be found in Nepal. It prefers marshes and grassy areas near waters, and grasses compose the bulk of its diet. Muntjacs - or Barking Deer - can be found in several countries, including India, Japan, Sri Lanka and Burma.

The sambar is found in southern and Southeast Asia, and has been introduced into several other countries - including the USA. Drive-through safari parks can be found in several locations, both as a stand-alone attraction, and as part of a larger enterprise (such as an amusement park).

8. I am in Compton, California, waiting to pay my respects at a drive-through funeral home. There is a wide driveway, a large bulletproof viewing window and a condolence book outside to be signed. Does such an establishment actually exist?

Answer: Yes

There are a few drive-through funeral homes operating in the USA. The Robert L. Adams Mortuary in Compton has a large glass viewing window for mourners to pay their respects without the need to get out of their cars. In addition to making such a sad visit more convenient for the elderly, disabled and those who simply dislike entering a funeral parlor, the venue provides a safer alternative for gang funerals.

9. I have driven along The Avenue of the Giants, and arrived in Meyers Flat. I am in line to drive through a tunnel cut through the base of a redwood tree, but I have gotten a bit lost. Can you tell me where I am?

Answer: California

California's diverse geography includes mountains, deserts, rainforests, hills, valleys, forests and oceanside beaches, dunes and cliffs. Almost half of the state is forested, and California is home to more species of pines than any other state. There are a few drive-through trees in California - coastal redwoods - and they are located in the northern part of the state.

10. Finally, I have reached my ultimate destination - the home of the first Togo's sandwich shop. It is located in the California city nicknamed "The Capital of Silicon Valley", and it is not too far from the Winchester Mystery House. Do you know which city I have arrived in?

Answer: San Jose

Located just south of the San Francisco Bay area, San Jose is the county seat of Santa Clara County. Sitting between the San Andreas Fault and the Calaveras Fault, moderate earthquakes are fairly common for the city. Incorporated in 1850, it served as California's first capital.
Togo's was founded in 1971 near San Jose State University by a college student, and was successful enough to open a second location in 1974, and began franchising in 1977. The chain was acquired in 1997 by Dunkin' Brands, and in 2007 by Mainsail Partners.
