Answer: 1143

The king declared Portugal's independence in 1143, but te Pope only recognised it on 23rd May 1179.
2. In what year were the official Portuguese borders with Castille first defined?

Answer: 1297

The borders were agreed and formaly accepted by both coutnries on the 12th September 1297.

Answer: True

This Queen was officially made a saint in 1625 by the Vatican and remains very dear to the Portuguese people.
