1. Arabica

Answer: Coffee Beans

Coffea arabica is the most popular type of plant to grow coffee beans, with about 60% of the global production of coffee being arabica. Endemic to the highlands of Ethiopia, arabica coffee is now grown in dozens of countries located between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.

Arabica coffee is believed to have been the first coffee plant to be discovered and cultivated, and while written records of it did not appear until the 15th century, there had already been oral tradition surrounding its use in Arab lands for centuries before that.
2. Robusta

Answer: Coffee Beans

Coffea robusta is the second-most cultivated coffee in the world, with about 40% of production. The main difference from Coffea arabica is that robusta has lower acidity, more bitterness, and a more woody and less fruity flavour. Another feature of robusta is found in its name, in that it is a little more robust - more resistant to pests and disease, and with a little more caffeine than its competitor.
3. Liberica

Coffea liberica is harder to come by than the two main varieties (arabica and robusta), but at one point in coffee history, liberica saved the coffee world. In the 1890, a fungal disease called 'coffee rust' decimated about 90% of arabica supply in the world, and coffee producers turned to the liberica plant as a replacement.

Coffea liberica beans are larger and more irregularly-shaped than other coffee beans, and they have unique floral and fruity notes, with a full body that has a smoky taste.
4. Excelsa

Coffea excelsa grows in similar regions (southeast Asia) as liberica, but have very different qualities. Excelsa is largely used in coffee blends, adding a boost of flavour and complexity. It has a tart and fruity body, but somehow still has dark, roasty notes.

A doppio espresso is a double shot of espresso extracted using double the amount of ground coffee in a larger portafilter basket. Doppio translates as 'double,' with a single shot of espresso known as a 'solo.'

A ristretto is a short shot (20 ml) of a more highly concentrated espresso coffee, made with the same amount of coffee as a regular espresso, but with a finer grind and half the water.

An americano is a single shot of espresso that has been diluted with hot water, typically at a 1:3 to 1:4 ratio, giving the flavour of an espresso without quite the same kick.

A caffè macchiato is an espresso coffee with a small amount of milk, usually foamed. The term 'macchiato' translates as 'stained,' or 'spotted.' It has the highest ration of espresso to milk of any other drink variation of coffee with milk.
10. Cappuccino

Named for Capuchin monks (or rather, the colour of their robes), a cappuccino in its basic form is comprised of a single, double, or triple espresso shot and hot (steamed) milk, with the surface topped with foamed milk, typically at a ration of 1/3 each.

A cortado is a Spanish drink that is roughly half espresso and half warm (steamed) milk. 'Cortado' is related to the verb 'cortar,' meaning 'to cut.'

A latte can have one or more shots of espresso, which is then combined with hot, steamed milk at a ratio of about 3:1, with just a little bit of foam at the top, making it a much milkier blend of coffee than the cappuccino. 13. Shakerato

A shakerato is an Italian-style iced coffee drink made with espresso, ice, and simple syrup, shaken together until frothy and strained into a martini glass.

The Greek frappe is made of instant coffee and water (with optional sugar), shaken or mixed with a frother, and poured over ice. Milk can also be added to a person's preference.
15. Mazagran

Mazagran is a cold, sweetened coffee drink that is named for Mazagran, Algeria, where French colonial soldiers developed the drink while stationed there in the 19th century. In its base form, Mazagran is simply a strong, hot coffee poured over ice, typically in a tall, narrow glass - the original 'iced coffee.'

The most common variations, however include:

Portuguese - strong coffee or espresso served over ice with lemon. Sometimes rum, and it may be sweetened with sugar syrup

Austrian - served with an ice cube and rum, consumed in 'one gulp'

Catalonia and Valencia - made with coffee added to ice, and a lemon peel
16. Eiskaffee

Answer: Cold Coffee

There are many variations of German eiskaffee, but at its simplest, you need to brew a good strong coffee, then chill it. Add a scoop (or two) of ice cream, and some unsweetened whipped cream on top.
