Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Glinda the Good has the first solo line in "Wicked".

Answer: False

Actually, the first line is sung by an Ozian, who says "Look! It's Glinda!". Glinda then sings her first lines, about how good it is that the wicked witch is dead.
2. Here's one of my favourite lines in the musical. Finish the quote. "Are people born wicked, or do they have wickedness thrust upon them? After all ..."

Answer: ...she had a father, she had a mother, as so many do.

This is sung in "No One Mourns the Wicked", the first song in "Wicked". After this line, Elphie's parents are first seen, before you learn their secret.
3. Galinda changes her name to Glinda during "Wicked". Why does she do this?

Answer: Out of respect for Dr Dillamond, and she thought it would attract Fiyero.

The change is out of respect for Dr Dillamond after he is fired, and is also an attempt to make Fiyero like her more. Dr Dillamond had trouble pronouncing "GA-Linda", which Galinda had often pointed out to him. In the book "Wicked", Galinda changes to Glinda after Dr Dillamond is killed.
4. How does Galinda address her father in "What is this Feeling?/Loathing"?

Answer: Popsicle

She then tells her parents "There's been some confusion over rooming here at Shiz, but of course I'll rise above it, for I know that's how you'd want me to respond, yes. There's been some confusion for you see my roommate is: unusually and exceedingly peculiar, and altogether quite impossible to describe." What a nice, happy start to the letter!
5. Galinda is originally rejected from the sorcery tutorial.

Answer: True

Madame Morrible decides to tutor Elphie exclusively, and so Galinda is turned down. Elphie later convinces Madame Morrible to tutor Galinda as well.
6. Finish Galinda's line from "Popular". GALINDA: "Elphie - now that we're friends, I've decided to make you my new project." ELPHABA: "You really don't have to do that." GALINDA: "I know. That's what makes me so ___!"

Answer: nice

Galinda continues. "Whenever I see someone less fortunate than I. And let's face it - who isn't less fortunate than I? My tender heart tends to start to bleed. And when someone needs a makeover, I simply have to take over - I know, I know exactly what they need. And even in your case - though it's the toughest case I've yet to face - don't worry, I'm determined to succeed, follow my lead, and yes, indeed you will be - popular!"

She sounds like a very humble girl.
7. Glinda suggests the Wizard create a rumor about Nessa being in trouble to pay back Elphie.

Answer: True

She is horrified when Madame Morrible creates a hurricane and actually kills Nessa. She had suggested the rumor as payback for Elphie stealing Fiyero from her.
8. In "Wicked", who sings "I'm Not That Girl" second?

Answer: Glinda

"I'm Not That Girl" is sung by Glinda just before "As Long As You're Mine", the song about Fiyero and Elphie being in love (Fiyero being the boy Galinda sang about in "I'm Not That Girl"), and just after "Thank Goodness", in which Glinda says her "fairytale dream" is not like she anticipated. Elphie sings "I'm Not That Girl" after "Popular".
9. Glinda forces the Wizard to leave Oz.

Answer: True

This then results in Madame Morrible being arrested. Glinda then vows to truly become the "Glinda the Good" to the people of Oz.
10. In "For Good", which of these lines does Glinda sing first?

Answer: Like a comet pulled from orbit as it passes the sun

Glinda actually only sings 2 of those lines. Here's the lyrics in order, as they are sung the second time in the song. They are sung in the same order the first time, but one set is in Glinda's verse, and one in Elphie's.

GLINDA (same time as Elphaba): "Like a comet pulled from orbit as it passes the sun, like a stream that meets a boulder halfway through the wood"
ELPHABA (same time as Glinda): "Like a ship blown off its mooring by a wind off the sea, like a seed dropped by a skybird in the wood"
