'X' is a 2022 slasher horror film written, produced and directed by Ti West. It stars Mia Goth, Brittany Snow, Jenna Ortega and Martin Henderson. A small group of actors stay at a farmhouse in Texas owned by an elderly couple. Their plans are to make an adult film without the older couple's consent. Unfortunately for them, this is no ordinary couple, and the young filmmakers find themselves in a night of terror! Mia Goth plays double roles as an adult film actress named Maxine Minx and a murderous old lady named Pearl, which is also the name of the 2022 prequel that West directed and co-wrote with Goth. Pearl is seen quietly watching the young actors in different situations throughout the film, which adds a bit of a mysterious eerie to her character.

She seems especially drawn to Maxine, whom she meets when Max enters the couple's house uninvited. Without giving too much away, Pearl comes across as quiet and sweet at first, but little does anyone know her murderous history and how dangerous she really is!

Answer: The Mutation

'Alligator II: The Mutation' is the 1991 sequel to the 1980 film 'Alligator'. It stars Joseph Bologna who plays a police detective. He teams up with a hunter (played by Richard Lynch) and together they go looking for the giant creature that dwells in the sewers.

The mutation part of the title refers to the alligator growing to a massive size. This is due to huge amounts of toxic chemicals being dumped into the sewers by a local tycoon from a company called Future Chemicals. Like the first 'Alligator' film released eleven years earlier, the major growth of the reptile causes it to go on a hunting and killing spree for food, which is obviously not good for the locals!

Answer: The Sadness

This movie is not a zombie film in my opinion, although it is often labeled as one. The people infected are not dead, then reanimated. They are alive the whole time and will instantly become rabid and ultra violent once infected. It starts with a single tear running down their face, then their eyes become solid black.

They give in to their depraved impulses to hurt others who are not infected to cause them pain and suffering. While this film has a warning for viewers about the immense violence and gore throughout, it is also very well done as an edge-of-your-seat thriller. Definitely not for the squeamish.

Answer: Black Friday

The employees and store manager of a toy store called We Love Toys are getting everything prepared for the crowd of customers waiting in line for their Black Friday specials. Little do they know that there is a parasitic organism that is traveling from person to person at a very rapid rate! Once everyone is inside the store, people start mutating into infected ghouls, and the group of employees have to stick together and fight for their lives!

Answer: Studio 666

This film, aside from being funny and entertaining, is surprisingly pretty gory! All the members of Foo Fighters play themselves in the film, which also stars Whitney Cummings, Will Forte, Leslie Grossman, Jenna Ortega and Jeff Garlin.

Answer: Eric's Revenge

The film's title, 'Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge' makes it look and sound like a sequel, which it is not. Morgan Fairchild, Rob Estes and Pauly Shore star in this obscure slasher about a young man named Eric who survives a fire set to his home so, with nowhere to live, he takes refuge underneath the new mall that is built on the same property where his house used to be.

He is horribly burnt, very angry and out for revenge!

Answer: All Hallows' Eve

The 2013 anthology film is where we first see the creepy, murderous clown. It starts off on Halloween night with a young woman named Sarah, who is babysitting two children named Tia and Timmy after they finish trick-or-treating. They find a mysteriously unmarked VHS tape in one of their bags, and beg Sarah to pop it in and let them watch it.

As the video plays, we get to see what's on the tape. Three short stories play out, all featuring Art the Clown. 'Terrifier 2' on the other hand is getting some crazy reviews and publicity.

It is said to be so graphic and gruesome, that some people viewing the film have become ill and/or passed out. I have seen it, and while I most definitely have the stomach for it, I will admit it can be extreme at times for some people and is not for everyone.

Answer: Barbarian

This film is the directorial debut of Zach Cregger, who is also the writer. It stars Bill Skarsgård, Georgina Campbell and Justin Long. It is said that it's much better to go into watching this film knowing as little as possible!

Answer: Antlers

Keri Russell stars as a school teacher named Julia Meadows, who is very concerned about one of her students, a 12-year old boy named Aiden. He is very withdrawn and draws frightening images while in class. While Julia suspects that Aiden is suffering from domestic abuse, there is actually something very sinister and supernatural at hand.

The beginning of the film shows a new character named Corey Cunningham, who is babysitting a young boy named Jeremy. During the evening, tragedy befalls, changing the course of things that happen in Haddonfield. Unfortunately for Michael Myers fans, he is not shown until well into the film.

The movie is getting mixed reviews...mostly negative, which is also unfortunate...but understandable. I have been a huge fan of the franchise for years, and I have to say that this conclusion to the saga is quite a disappointment in my opinion. I just wanted to include it since it's an appropriate entry for a quiz meant for the Halloween season.
