Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of the movie, we saw a group of soldiers preparing for a training exercise. An accident occurred and 21 men were killed. Five of the soldiers were from what small town in Tennessee?

Answer: Armour Springs, Tennessee

The men that were killed were part of the 'Flying Daggers' of Fort Clarksville Army Base in Fort Clarksville, Kentucky. The sign at the entrance of Armour Springs read 'Armour Springs, Tennessee, Population 1401, Birthplace of Bo Price.' Angel returned to Armour Springs for the first time in over 16 years to see her parents and attend her brother's funeral. (He was one of the men killed in the military training accident.) This was not only Dixie Leigh's first visit to the little town, but also the first time she was introduced to her father, Bo Price. Bo was a down-and-out musician who had spent the last 16 years regretting that he had abandoned Angel, while she was pregnant with Dixie Leigh.
2. Two of the soldiers from the small town were Dixie Leigh's uncles. What were their names?

Answer: Kyle Price and Bobby Delton

When Angel left her home in Armour Springs with her unborn baby, she chose not to allow her parents to be a part of her daughter's life. Dixie Leigh met Bobby Delton, Angel's brother, once, but she never met Kyle Price, Bo's brother. Bobby and Kyle were best friends who had grown up together in Armour Springs and chose to enlist into the Army.
3. What were the first words that Jake, Dixie Leigh's grandfather, said to her when they met for the first time?

Answer: "What kind of outfit is that? Is that a Halloween costume?"

"Your granddad doesn't know a whole lot about fashion." Dixie Rose said this to Dixie Leigh in an attempt to calm the tension in the room. Dixie Leigh, an independent minded 16 year-old, had her own sense of style that fit in more in the Miami, Florida music scene, than in the small town of Armour Springs, Tennessee. On the other hand, Jake was a rather hard man that did not know how to relate to the daughter that he had raised, much less his 16 year old granddaughter that he had just met. Jake Delton was played by Burt Reynolds and Dixie Rose Delton was played by Tess Harper.
4. Angel's best friend growing up lied to Jake, Angel's dad, and told him that Angel planned to terminate the pregnancy. Jake believed the friend instead of his own daughter, which caused Angel to leave home pregnant at 17 years old. What was the name of Angel's so called best friend?

Answer: Patsi Jones

Angel and her father had a huge fight because of Patsi's lie and she moved away. She did not return again until her own daughter, Dixie Leigh, was 16 years old. During the planting of the memorial garden at the Delton Inn, Patsi approached Angel and tried to pretend like nothing had happened. Angel told Patsi that she had not forgotten what she had done to her family 16 years earlier.
5. Who collapsed after the funeral and had to be rushed to the hospital?

Answer: Dixie Rose

Dixie Rose had a mild stroke, but according to the doctor, she should make a full recovery. Dixie Rose had always been the one that kept her husband, Jake, grounded and when she was hospitalized, he was lost without her.
6. Dixie Leigh went to a party at the Old Mill to see the boy she had met while making condolence calls with her grandmother, Dixie Rose. While at the party, the boy attacked her and she escaped through the woods. What was the boy's name?

Answer: Wyatt Shane

The party was at "the Old Mill near Lafayette, straight shot out Route 9, just before Creekside Grill." Bo found Dixie Leigh wandering down the road. When he realized what had happened to her, he went to the Old Mill and beat up Wyatt Shane. Wyatt Shane was an insignificant character, except that Dixie Leigh's encounter with him allowed her and Bo the opportunity to finally communicate with one another, on a very significant level. Dixie Leigh: "Don't be nice to me now. All this time you knew where I was, I know you did. And you didn't care enough to come and find me. Why - Why didn't you come and find me?" Bo: "I didn't think I had the right to."
7. Bo took Dixie Leigh to a special place to talk. Where did he take her? (Hint: It was the place where Angel kissed him for the first time years ago.)

Answer: The sulfur springs

Bo told Dixie Leigh that those were the first sulfur springs discovered in the county. He explained to her that he loved Angel more than anything and had regretted abandoning her while she was pregnant. When Dixie Leigh asked why he did it, he told her, "Running's what I do best."
8. At the end of the movie, who were the special guests at the sunrise-service?

Answer: Bebe Winans and Willie Nelson

"Uncloudy Day" was performed by BeBe Winans, Willie Nelson, and Toby Keith. Willie announced that Bo had made arrangements for a benefit concert to be held in Nashville to help the families of the soldiers. They invited the entire town to join them in Nashville for the event.
9. "Broken" was the name of the song that Dixie Leigh wrote and sang at the sunrise-service. True or false?

Answer: True

Dixie Leigh dedicated the song to her uncles, Kyle Price and Bobby Delton, and to the entire town. This was a very beautiful and emotional song about having faith in yourself even when bad things happen.
Chorus:
"When you're broken, in a million little pieces
And you're trying, but you can't hold on anymore.
Every tear falls down for a reason
Don't you stop believing in yourself
When you're broken."
10. During most of the movie, Angel was dating her weasel-of-a-boss, Charles, much to Dixie Leigh's dislike. Dixie Leigh referred to him by several different names through out the movie. Which was NOT one of the derogatory names?

Answer: Charlie Brown

Other names she called him during the movie: "Up-Chuck" and "The Chuck-Meister". Charles seemed to be more interested in ratings for his TV show than in his relationship with Angel. She had initially agreed to do a segment about the tragedy in Armour Springs, but changed her mind and asked him not to run it.

However, without her knowledge, he ran it anyway. When Dixie Leigh told Angel that she deserved better than Charles, Angel broke up with Charles and quit her job.
