Answer: Love Me Tender

"Love Me Tender" was released in 1956 starring Elvis, Richard Egan, and Debra Paget. Even though the movie was named after the song, Elvis was not the top-billing actor. The movie was an American Western musical film, originally called "The Reno Brothers", but because of the sales of Presley's recording of "Love Me Tender", which grossed more than a million in sales, it was renamed.

Essentially, the movie is about the war being over on a day when Confederate soldiers, led by Vance Reno, robbed a Union train of its payroll. As the war was officially over, the act was considered a crime and its participants were outlaws. Reno returns home only to find that his brother (Elvis) has married his sweetheart. The family tries to reconnect whilst evading the law.

Answer: Kid Galahad

"Kid Galahad" was a remake of a 1937 film that starred Edward G. Robinson, Bette Dave and Humphrey Bogart. Although a hard act to follow, Presley's version, released in 1962, ranked Presley's performance as "one of his best...".

Presley plays Walter Gulick, a person recently released from the army, who loves working as a mechanic. Willy Grogan is a boxing promoter and Presley is under his radar when Grogan's younger sister becomes interested in Gulick. Needing money, Gulick accepts a job as a sparring partner to some of Grogan's fighters. After beating some of them in fights, Gulick trains for a real fight. And then the plot thickens...

"Double Trouble" released in 1967, was another American musical film starring Elvis Presley. Presley was an American singer who crossed paths with criminals whilst performing in Europe.

John William Pilbean Goffage MBE, known as Chips Rafferty, was an Australian actor. Rafferty's career spanned from the late 1930s until he died in 1971.

"Rock-A-Hula Baby" was recorded in 1961 for the movie "Blue Hawaii". "Blue Hawaii" was made in 1961 starring Elvis Presley, in a typical romantic comedy-drama film. At the time of making this film, Presley was 26 years old and, interestingly, Angela Lansbury, playing Presley's mother, was only 35 years old.

The movie was essentially about Chad, just back in Hawaii after being released from the army, working in a pineapple company, but all he wanted to do was sing and dance.

"Viva Las Vegas", 1964, starred Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret. What chemistry these two had! This film is considered one of Presley's best films and has to be recognised by the rapport between Presley and Ann-Margret. The dance sequences are extremely well choreographed and, without doubt, show the talents of both stars.

Born Ann-Margret Olsson, who used Ann-Margaret as her stage name, she is a Swedish-American actress, singer, and dancer. Although Ann-Margaret did not achieve the fame critics thought she would, she was an accomplished dancer and singer. Ann-Margaret's career spanned six decades and included movies, live performances, songs and concerts, and television appearances.

Presley was on a tank crew but he, of course, sang and had dreams of owning a nightclub. A band was formed and they performed in German nightclubs hoping to have a career after the Army. A cute reference was the use of the record "Blue Suede Shoes" sung by someone named Elvis Presley on a jukebox.

A bet was made that Tulsa (Presley) could spend the night with Lili (Juliet Prowse) and, with a lot of toing and froing, intrigue and the like, the couple ends up together, and win the bet.

Answer: Judy Tyler

Judy Tyler played Peggy Van Alden, a music promoter who, after seeing Vince sing, assists in building his career and, of course, becomes romantically involved.

Before this movie, Tyler performed in "Howdy Doody". During this show, she took leave to make the film with Presley. Judy was killed in a car crash just before the release of the movie.

The film is famous for its title track, where Presley sings "Jailhouse Rock" whilst dancing on stage with other prisoners, all in a scene resembling jail block cells. This scene was choreographed by Presley himself.

Elvis Presley plays musician Charlie Rogers. Presley, as Charlie, makes friends with Cathy, the daughter of the carnival owner, and quickly becomes the star of the show. Even though the owners of the show know that Charlie brings in paying guests, they do not want him to be a part of the show. Charlie leaves but comes back when he realises they are in financial trouble. Of course, Charlie and Cathy are a couple by the end.

"Bossa Nova Baby" was written by the songwriting duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Although Elvis was not offered the song originally, Elvis recorded it in 1963. The original version of the song did not chart.

Acapulco is located in a harbour on the Pacific coast of Mexico and, as such, is a well-known tourist destination.

The Bossa Nova is not in anyway related to Mexico and is a form of dancing from Brazil. The characteristic of Bossa Nova is that the rhythm is different from the music, giving it a samba feel.

Answer: Kissin' Cousins

"Kissin' Cousins" was not regarded as a good movie, but it does have its comic side. Presley stars as two cousins; Jodie Tatum, a dark-haired US Air Force officer and Josh Morgan, a hillbilly distant cousin with blonde hair. The cousins look alike. As the Air Force wants to build a missile base on Morgan's farm, Tatum's role is to persuade him to let them do it. Of course, nothing is as simple as it seems.

Interestingly, Colonel Tom Parker wanted Elvis to be paid for both roles.
