Answer: Takashi Miike

Takashi Miike is a very controversial Japanese filmmaker. Some of his other efforts include: "Audition" and the "Dead or Alive" trilogy. Hideo Yamamoto created the original manga.

Answer: He lost his gun.

As stated many times throughout the film from different characters (e.g. the twin brothers teasing him), Kaneko was indeed fired from the police force for losing his gun. Kaneko, in deep depression over the loss of his job, was found and helped by Boss Anjo, as shown in a back story, which is why he ended up joining the Yakuza gang.

Answer: Takeshi

You can hear Kaneko using his son's name Takeshi while talking to him on the phone at the beginning of the movie. He has a very small role in the film and not considered a main character.

Answer: Jirô and Saburô

Jirô and Saburô (Suzuki Matsuo) are two corrupt police detective twin brothers hired by Kakihara to track down Ichi. They are also both sadists and are used during the film to torture for information (most notably the torture of the prostitute Myu-Myu in one of the film's more disturbing scenes). You can hear their names being spoken throughout the film by Kakihara.

Answer: Ichiro

When Jirô is killed by Ichi, Saburô senses it and explains to Kakihara that he felt the same way when his older brother Ichiro died. This is just a reference as there is no additional information on this character.

Answer: Shinya Tsukamoto

Jijii is the man secretly organizing events, and is in control of Ichi. He is played by Shinya Tsukamoto and is a Japanese film director/actor with a large following. He is also known as Iron Man Tetsuo which he got from the Japanese films he starred in which are called, "Tetsuo: The Iron Man" (1988) & "Tetsuo II: Body Hammer" (1992).

Other noteworthy films he has starred in are: "Tokyo Fist" (1995) and "Bullet Ballet" (1998).

Answer: "Just a little torture."

Kakihara's investigation into the disappearance of Anjo leads him to brutally torture a member of a rival clan, Suzuki (Susumu Terajima), by suspending him from a ceiling with metal hooks through the man's back, shoving stilettos through his body, and pouring boiling grease on him. In an example of the film's extremely black humor, when asked what he is doing, Kakihara responds nonchalantly, "Just a little torture", to which Suzuki's Boss is dumbfounded.

Answer: Stilettos

In many torture situations (e.g. the torture of Jijii's henchmen), Kakihara uses stilettos on his victims to pierce their faces in a gory fashion, this method is useful in obtaining information from the victims.

Answer: Tongue

Suzuki's boss (Jun Kunimura), infuriated with Kakihara for the torture, forces him to pay for the dishonour. Kakihara then uses his sword to cut off part of his tongue and offers it to Suzuki's boss as restitution.

Answer: He commits suicide.

Kakihara is found dead on the buildings floor by Jijii, but is apparently unwounded by Ichi's final attack. This reveals that Kakihara was hallucinating the attack (most likely due to sticking the stilletos too far into his ears), and thus committed suicide.
