In 1920's West Virginia, coal miners go on strike against a company that employs gunmen to keep them in line. Union organizer Joe Kennehan tries to unite all of the workers, white, black, and immigrants, into the union, but the men are urged on to violence by a spy in their ranks.
2. This film tells the story of Pu-Yi, the last ruler under the Chinese Qing dynasty.

Answer: The Last Emperor

In 1908, three year old Pu-Yi is chosen by the dying Chinese empress to succeed her. He is still a boy when a revolution breaks out, but he is maintained as a figurehead until the 1920s. The Japanese then set him up as ruler of the puppet state of Manchukuo, but he is captured at the end of World War II and sent to a reeducation camp by the Communists.
He becomes a gardener, dying in 1967.
3. An advertising executive and a traveling salesman have a difficult time getting home to Chicago for Thanksgiving.

Answer: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Ad exec Neal Page is trying to get home to Chicago from a meeting in New York. On the plane, he is seated with an obnoxious shower curtain ring salesman named Del Griffith. When the plane is diverted to Kansas, the men join forces through a nightmare of transportation mishaps to try and get home in time for Thanksgiving.

Stockbroker Bud Fox idolizes corporate raider Gordon Gekko. Finally meeting him after many attempts, Bud passes along info about the airline that his father works for. Gekko directs Bud to spy on another financier for him, and buys the airline in order to liquidate it, costing Bud's father his job. Bud finally realizes the illegality of his actions on behalf of his idol.
5. A unit of American soldiers try again and again to take a well-defended enemy position during the Vietnam War.

Answer: Hamburger Hill

In May, 1969, a unit of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division is assigned to take an enemy-held hill, which is full of bunkers, machine gun nests, and trenches. The film explores the relationships between the soldiers as they lose friends trying to dislodge the North Vietnamese defenders from their positions, mounting a total of eleven assaults before the hill was captured.

An off-camera viewer cycles through his late night cable TV lineup when the film he is watching has technical difficulties. The results are a series of comedy sketches by various popular stars of the time.

Veteran U.S. Army Sergeant Clell Hazard feels that he could be more useful training combat troops instead of burying dead soldiers. When an old friend's son is assigned to his unit, Hazard looks out for the boy, until he is sent to Vietnam. The young man's death in combat hits Hazard hard, as he felt that the Army didn't prepare his friend's son for the job they sent him to do.

Answer: Spaceballs

President Skroob of the Spaceballs plans to steal all of the air from the planet Druidia by having his henchman, Dark Helmet, kidnap Princess Vespa. Vespa's father, King Roland, hires rogue pilot Lone Star and his friend Barf, a half-man half-dog creature, to rescue Vespa. Lone Star and Barf succeed in rescuing the princess and thwarting the bad guys in time for the hero and the princess to wed.

Answer: Empire of the Sun

A British schoolboy is separated from his parents during the 1941 Japanese occupation of Shanghai, China. He is sent to an interment camp, where he becomes involved in the black market. He befriends several American prisoners, as well as a Japanese trainee pilot.

At war's end, he is evacuated from the camp, and wanders the countryside until American soldiers find him and reunite him with his parents.
10. A meek insurance agent is pressed into service by an offbeat CIA agent to meet with extraterrestrials and save the world.

Answer: Real Men

The CIA is negotiating with aliens for one of two options, a "big gun" that can destroy the world, or a "good package" that will save the planet. When the negotiator is killed by rogue agents who want the gun, a meek, look-alike insurance agent is kidnapped by a bizarre CIA agent and taken to Washington to complete the negotiations for the "good package".
