Zoe's mother, Christine dies in a traffic accident. Zoe has never known her father, so Kate becomes Zoe's guardian. Abagail Breslin has a great screen presence in this movie as she did in her previous movie "Little Miss Sunshine" (2006).

Dakota Fanning first caught my eye in "I am Sam" (2001). Jean Malone was in "Stepmom" (1998) and Christina Ricci, first appeared in "Mermaids"(1990).

Kate keeps forgetting that Zoe is just a child and that she doesn't eat exotic fish dishes and quail. Zoe has not eaten anything that Kate has prepared for her. One evening when Zoe comes to work with Kate, Nick makes some spaghetti and spaghetti sauce with basil for himself.

He asks her to hold it for him while he continues to work. The plan works as we see Zoe quickly eating the spaghetti.

This movie is set in New York City. Although, many great chefs live work in Paris, France, this also is not the location. While Nick likes Italian cooking, he is not planning on moving to Rome, Italy. He has previously worked in an Italian restaurant.

Zoe leaves a peacock feather at her mother's grave. Zoe goes there after her aunt (Kate) and her friend (Nick) get into a fight. Zoe leaves to go there without telling anyone so everyone is worried about her. Kate and Nick find her at the grave site where Zoe says that she does not want to forget about her mother.

The restaurant were Kate and Nick work is called 22 Bleecker Street. Bleecker Street is a famous street in New York City's Manhattan borough. It is known for fine restaurants and night clubs.
