Bobby was playing football behind his mother's back. He would come home all black and blue from either football practice or a game. In order to keep the secret from his mom, he told her that he was attacked by a gorilla. Helen, Bobby's mom, was going around the town posting wanted signs for a gorilla. She had hand drawn all of the signs herself.


Kathy played Helen Boucher in "The Waterboy". When Helen found out Bobby was playing what she called the foosball she faked an illness. The whole town came to the hospital where Helen was and tried to convince Bobby to play in the game. It was there that Helen realized how much Bobby meant to all the town's people. The movie was released in 1998 and starred Adam Sandler. The film was directed by Frank Coraci.

Answer: Failure to Launch

Kathy starred as Sue in this 2006 film. Sue and Al had hired a woman to help their adult son leave their home. Tripp was 35 years old and seemed to have no intention of leaving his childhood home. His parents were anxious to get him out. Al was especially antsy so he could walk around the house nude. Sue wanted Tripp to leave, but was nervous because she hadn't been alone with her husband since Tripp was born. Tripp wound up falling for the woman they hired.

Kathy and Terry Bradshaw had great chemistry in this movie. In my opinion there were the best part of the whole film. The way she reacted when Al was walking around naked all the time was hilarious. The film was directed by Tom Dey. It starred Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker as the lead roles of Tripp and Paula.

Answer: She gave her fried green tomatoes.

Evelyn had developed a real love for Ninny. They first met when Evelyn and her husband Ed were there visiting Ed's aunt at the nursing home. Ninny began to tell Evelyn the story of Idgie Threadgoode and Ruth almost immediately. Evelyn would come back with Ed, but not to see his aunt only Ninny. Evelyn wanted to hear more of Ninny's story on Idgie and Ruth. She would tell Evelyn more and more of the story of the two young women with each visit. Evelyn came back on Ninny's birthday with a plate of fried green tomatoes. The women ate the tomatoes and talked some more of the tale of Idgie.

The film was released in 1991. It is one of my all time favorites because of the stellar cast and the story. The movie starred Kathy, Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Mary-Louise Parker just to name a few. It was the story of of the power of women and how they each came through adversity stronger then ever. I loved this movie.

Answer: Gourmet Food Store

Beth Macauley was a recently widowed woman with two children. They were forced to move out of their home and get an apartment. The boys were not adjusting well to the death of their father and their new surroundings. Beth had to get a job and found one at a Gourmet Food Store run by Lisa Coleman. At first Beth was managing alright, but then she slipped into a depression and would not get out of bed. Jody, Chris Macauley's much older girlfriend helped Beth to get back to where she was. Beth along with her sons and her new boyfriend and Chris's girlfriend all formed a bond at the end of the movie. The feeling you got at the end was that everything was going to be alright.

Kathy played the Gourmet Food Store owner, Lisa Coleman. She was a strong woman and gave Beth a hard way to go at first. In one scene, Lisa asked Beth if she felt creative. Beth thought the task was going to be something to challenge her skills. It was simply stacking product in a large display. Beth quit, but came back later to get her job back. Lisa and Beth both talked and Beth discovered why Lisa was the way she was. The women had an understanding after that conversation. Jessica Lange starred as Beth and Joan Cusack starred as Jody. The film also featured Chris O'Donnell and Charlie Korsmo as Chris and Matt Macauley. The film was released in 1990.

Answer: Hot Chocolate

Annie answered the door to her home to find Sheriff Buster standing there. She let him in and he told her he was looking for Paul Sheldon. Annie went on about how she was his biggest fan and was saddened about the news of his disappearance. She told Buster she had set up a studio and was trying to write a book to help keep Paul's legacy alive. Annie offered Buster some hot chocolate and, as she left the room, Buster went upstairs. He was looking for signs of Paul. Annie met him upstairs with the mug of cocoa. He thanked her and left as he was outside he heard a loud noise. Buster thought Annie had an accident and ran back into the house. He opened the basement door and saw Paul. Annie shot Buster with a shotgun.

Kathy was amazing in this movie; she truly deserved to win the Academy Award. I had read the book before I saw the movie and was not disappointed. She did justice to the role and in my opinion nailed it. The film was released in 1990. It was directed by Rob Reiner and starred James Caan as Paul.

Answer: About Schmidt

Kathy appeared nude in the hot tub scene. When I saw this all I could think of was that she was pushing the envelope. She was not afraid to show her body and I applauded her for it. She did a wonderful job in this movie as did Jack Nicholson.

Kathy played the role of Roberta Hertzel in this 2002 film. She made a pass at Warren Schmidt while they were in the hot tub. Warren's daughter, Jeannie, was to marry Roberta's son Randall. Warren was upset by Roberta's sexual advancement and left the house soon thereafter. The film was directed by Alexander Payne. Kathy was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Award for this 2002 film.

Answer: Molly loaned Jack a tuxedo she had bought for her son.

Kathy played Molly Brown, in this 1997 movie by James Cameron. Molly Brown was an actual person who was on the Titanic when it sunk. She was not really liked by the other higher class passengers. She was what they called new money, so she had no established family background. This was funny because Ruth Dewitt Bukater, who was one of the main people looking down on her had, no money left to her after her husband died - she only had his name. Ruth Dewitt Bukater was the mother of the female lead Rose.

Molly take an instant liking to Jack. She stepped up and offer him a tuxedo when he was invited to dinner. Jack was invited to dinner for saving the life of Rose. Caledon 'Cal' Hockley invited Jack, but you could tell they were not going to get along.

Answer: Dolores Claiborne

Kathy starred in this movie, adapted from a Stephen King book, as Dolores Claiborne. She played the abused wife of Joe. He was constantly attacking her and in one scene hit her with a log. Dolores was saving money to run away with her daughter. Joe found out about the money and took the money. Dolores found out Joe was molesting their daughter. She got some advice from her employer and soon after murdered her husband. The daughter, Selena became estranged from her mother because, she had thought she killed her dad. Selena had repressed the abuse by her father.

Kathy did an excellent job with this role. I remembered how excited I was that she was doing another Stephen King based movie. I was expecting a performance like the one she had done in "Misery". I was I must admit disappointed in the movie overall. I have read both books and know they are not related in storyline, but I wanted Kathy to be the character that I thought Dolores was. The film was released in 1995 and was directed by Taylor Hickford. The film also starred Jennifer Jason Leigh as Selena.

Answer: Fred Claus

Kathy played the mother to Fred and Nick Claus. It was obvious that she thought Nick could do no wrong. She was so proud of everything he did and was constantly praising him. Fred on the other hand never seemed to do anything right. There was a tension between Fred and his mother that was resolved at the end of the movie.

Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti starred as the two Claus brothers. Nick was trying to get his brother to act more responsibly. Nick needed to borrow a large sum of money. Nick told him the only way he would do it was if Fred came and visited. He also wanted Fred to work for him for a little while, "Fred Claus" was released in 2007.

Answer: University of Tennessee

Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy both were alumni of the University of Mississippi and they wanted Michael to attend there as well. Michael was not a great student so they hired him a tutor, Miss Sue. Miss Sue, along with the help of Michael's teachers got his GPA up to 2.52. That was enough to get Michael into college.

Miss Sue, remaining true to her Alma mater, told Michael that the University of Tennessee had dead bodies buried in their stadium. Sue knew this would frighten Michael and rule out Tennessee as a possibility for him. Michael was afraid of horror movies and Miss Sue used that to her advantage. Kathy played the role the role of Miss Sue in this 2009 film. The film also starred Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw.
