2. "Ah, look at all the lonely people..." What haunting '60s song was allegedly inspired by a name found on a gravestone in the graveyard of St Peter's Church in Liverpool?

Answer: Eleanor Rigby

With its double string arrangement and lyrics about loneliness, alienation and death, The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" is definitely not your standard pop song. It was released on August 5, 1966, both as a double A-side single (with the much more upbeat "Yellow Submarine") and as part of the band's seventh studio album, "Revolver".

In the 1980s, a gravestone of the Rigby family (which included a lady named Eleanor, who had died in 1939 at the age of 44) was discovered in the graveyard of St Peter's Parish Church, in the Liverpool suburb of Woolton, not far from John Lennon's childhood home. Though Paul McCartney has often denied remembering the gravestone, he and Lennon met for the first time in July 1957 at a fete in St Peter's Church Hall - a historic meeting commemorated by a plaque on the front door.

Not surprisingly, the Rigby gravestone has become a landmark for Beatles fans.

3. Which DreamWorks animated movie starring a grumpy green ogre features the hit Smash Mouth song "All Star" playing during its memorable opening credits?

Answer: Shrek

"Shrek" is a 2001 movie directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicki Jenson, based on the 1990 children's novel of the same name by author William Stieg. "Shrek" stars Mike Myers as the voice of the titular character, an antisocial green ogre who lives in a swamp, whose life is turned upside-down when his home suddenly becomes a refuge for dozens of fairytale characters who have been sent into exile by the evil Lord Farquaad, the ruler of the fictional land of Duloc. Shrek joins forces with Donkey, a donkey (surprise!) voiced by Eddie Murphy, to travel to Duloc and confront Lord Farquaad. American band Smash Mouth recorded and released the single "All Star" for their 1999 album "Astro Lounge." Upon release, "All Star" was a worldwide hit, charting at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100, and receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

5. "American Tune" by Paul Simon misleadingly makes use of a 16th century melody by Hans Leo Hassler, from Nuremberg, who was what nationality?

Answer: German

Hans Leo Hassler (1564-1612) was one of the greatest German composers, known for bringing Italian influences into German music. The melody of one of his secular pieces, "Mein Gemüt ist mir verwirret" ("My Mind is Confused") has been used in a hymn and by Johann Sebastian Bach in his "St Matthew Passion". Paul Simon also used it in "American Tune" on his 1973 album "There Goes Rhymin' Simon".

It was the third single from the album and has been covered by several artists including Willie Nelson and Elvis Costello.
