Question 2 of 20
2. I promise the rest of the people I've seen won't be as obscure. My next concert took place in 2005 and featured a band that I'd always been a fan of. Question 3 of 20

Question 5 of 20
5. I was a little disappointed that the next singer on my concert list left "Raspberry Beret" off of his set list, but to see this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee live was still worth every penny, even if the seats weren't that great. "Let's Go Crazy" was the first song of the night from which artist? Hint

Question 6 of 20
6. In 2006, I got to see a singer notable for curling his lip. Born in 1955, his abs still put young peoples' physiques to shame even today. He and guitarist Steve Stevens constantly tour across America. I don't really like getting in the mosh pit, though, so when I saw this former Generation X band member, I found myself "Dancing with Myself" apart from everyone else. Who did I see? Hint

Question 7 of 20
7. In 2006, I saw a band consisting of Jon, Richie, Tico, and David play in Des Moines, Iowa (one of many concerts I've seen in Des Moines). Not enough information? One more hint: New Jersey. This should be easy. Who did I see? Hint

Question 8 of 20
8. At my next concert, Patrick Monahan took the stage with his band and by the end of the concert, he was inviting kids to come on stage and sing along with the songs, which included "Meet Virginia" and "Drops of Jupiter." Which fan-friendly band did I see now? Hint

Question 9 of 20
9. One of my favorite concerts happened in 2007 with a legend who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. The women still think he's sexy as they did in 1978 when he asked them if they thought he was in a song. The concert was fantastic and everyone left feeling "Forever Young." Which icon did I see? Hint

Question 10 of 20
10. I saw Alice Cooper in the summer of 2007, the main attraction in a double bill. Formed way back in 1967, the opening band in question had also toured with Cooper in 1972 when their self-titled album came out. This album featured "Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll," but it wouldn't be until 1977 when we would hear about Tokyo being destroyed by a famous monster. Which opening act did I see? Hint

Question 11 of 20
11. My next concert was another double bill featuring two hard rock/metal icons. Both men started out in famous bands and later went solo to achieve even greater success. On one of the men's albums that was released in 2001, the men did a song together called "Iron Head." I don't want to give this one away too easily, because you must name both men. Who are they? Hint

Question 12 of 20
12. I saw my next band in February of 2008, where there was certainly an "Eruption" in the crowd for the recent return of the band's lead singer who had originally gone solo in 1985. Sammy Hagar was certainly not in attendance for this show. Which band did I see this time? Hint

Question 13 of 20
13. This piano-playing icon broke onto the scene in 1973. He would semi-retire in 1993 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. I saw him in 2008. He released so many classic songs that he couldn't fit them all into the show I saw. Even though I didn't get to hear "Uptown Girl" and "All About Soul" that night, I was still in awe of this music legend. Which legend am I talking about? Hint

Question 14 of 20
14. I had tickets to see Aerosmith in 2006, but the concert was cancelled due to Steven Tyler having a throat issue. Now it's happening again with LeAnn Rimes! Yes, believe it or not, I was going to see LeAnn Rimes, but she cancelled as well. At least this time we got a replacement! After seeing this country music legend perform songs such as "She is His Only Need" and "No One Else on Earth" live, I forgot about LeAnn Rimes. Who did I see? Hint

Question 15 of 20
15. My next show was a three-band concert. After seeing The Sword perform, we got a very entertaining show from Down, a band that featured Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown of Pantera fame. The main event of the show was the greatest birthday present in the world: a band I'd always wanted to see. The only hints I will give is that they had a "Guitar Hero" video game with most of their major songs on it and their self-titled album was their fifth album released. Who did I celebrate my 21st birthday with? Hint

Question 16 of 20
16. It's hard to believe an artist doesn't particularly like their own trademark song, but for the next artist, it's true. Almost every time before she sings about the "real tough cookie with a long history" live, she admits she really isn't thrilled about the song. Still, never one to disappoint her fans, she sings it anyway. Who is this "Invincible" rock icon? Hint

Question 17 of 20
17. One of the great rock showmen played my first 2010 concert. As the former frontman of a "toxic" 1980s-early 1990s metal band, he announced to the crowd that we would all be videotaped and possibly put on an episode of "Celebrity Apprentice," a show he was participating on. Who was this? Hint

Question 18 of 20
18. He has sold more than 250 million records. In 1997, he released what would become the best-selling single in the history of music. On April 16th, 2010, he played live in Des Moines, Iowa. His concert began with the epic "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" and would conclude over three hours later, making it the longest concert I've ever attended. Who did I see this time? Hint

Question 19 of 20
19. After seeing the concert in the last question, I only had to wait a whole day to see my next one. On April 17th, 2010, one of the most well-known hard rock/metal bands came to Des Moines, although they consider themselves rock and roll. It wasn't just five people singing and playing instruments. It was a show in every sense of the word. We got to see a "Rock and Roll Train," a giant inflatable woman named Rosie, and a big bell. For those about to rock, who did I have seats to? Hint

Question 20 of 20
20. Finally, I was literally one foot away from this artist when I got pit access to her concert in May of 2010! While I was getting mobbed by teenage girls, probably around the age of "Fifteen," I saw this star work not just the entire stage, but the entire arena! She wielded many custom guitars, but I couldn't quite see how many teardrops were on them. Who is this "Fearless" artist? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. My first concert was in 1996 and I was only eight years old at the time. As a result, I can't really remember seeing this country singer whose biggest hit was 1995's "Lipstick Promises." Can you help me remember who I saw?

Answer: George Ducas

George Ducas had two albums in his short-lived singing career: 1995's "George Ducas" and 1997's "Where I Stand." The song "Lipstick Promises" reached number nine on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, his highest-charting single. Other songs by Ducas include "Hello Cruel World," "Kisses Don't Lie," and "Every Time She Passes By." Although his singing career folded, he went on to write songs for the likes of Garth Brooks, Sara Evans, and George Jones.
2. I promise the rest of the people I've seen won't be as obscure. My next concert took place in 2005 and featured a band that I'd always been a fan of. One thing was missing from the band, though, and that was lead singer Steve Perry! Fans of this band miss Perry and would gladly welcome him back with "Open Arms." Which band is this?

Answer: Journey

Formed in 1973, Journey has released songs that many people know, including "Don't Stop Believin'," "Any Way You Want It," and "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)." In 1998, longtime frontman Steve Perry was replaced because he wouldn't undergo hip replacement surgery that without would have kept him from performing.

He was replaced by Steve Augeri, who looked and sounded surprisingly similar to Perry, especially in person when I saw them. Augeri suffered throat problems and Journey eventually hired Arnel Pineda as lead singer, who sounds exactly like Steve Perry. Journey was eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and I can't believe they haven't been inducted yet.
3. I felt like a "Macho Man" after seeing this group consisting of a Native American, a police officer, a biker, a construction worker, a GI, and a cowboy. Which band inspired me to want to be "In the Navy?"

Answer: The Village People

Everybody knows The Village People's song "Y.M.C.A." but that's not their only good song. Others include "San Francisco," "Go West," and "Can't Stop the Music." Original members Glenn Hughes and Ray Stephens have passed away since the group's formation in 1977, but the group lives on and still tours on occasion. Believe me, they still put on a very entertaining show.
4. I had to take a "Photograph" just to prove to everybody that I had front row tickets to the next band. I got to see one of my favorite guitarists, Vivian Campbell, along with the band's amazing one-armed drummer, Rick Allen. Who did I have front row tickets to?

Answer: Def Leppard

Joe Elliott fronts Def Leppard, a great band with hits like "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "Rock of Ages," and one of my favorites, "Rock Brigade." Drummer Rick Allen lost his left arm after a car accident in 1984, but the "Thunder God" plays on with the band. Vivian Campbell played for Dio in the early 1980s but would join Def Leppard in 1992 after playing for a couple of other bands. My mother got a guitar pick from lead guitarist Phil Collen (not to be confused with Phil Collins), and the overall show was incredible.
5. I was a little disappointed that the next singer on my concert list left "Raspberry Beret" off of his set list, but to see this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee live was still worth every penny, even if the seats weren't that great. "Let's Go Crazy" was the first song of the night from which artist?

Answer: Prince

Born Prince Rogers Nelson in 1958, Prince made a mark on the music world with the 1984 album "Purple Rain," which accompanied an Academy Award-winning movie of the same name. Prince has many hits, which include "Little Red Corvette," "1999," and "When Doves Cry." He also did the soundtrack to the 1989 movie "Batman." Prince has also been known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince and a symbol that had no name. Prince is now a Jehovah's Witness and is also a vegan.

Answer: Billy Idol

Billy Idol (born William Michael Albert Broad) is an icon in the punk rock genre with memorable songs such as "White Wedding," "Rebel Yell," and "Eyes Without a Face." He fronted Generation X from 1976 to 1982 until he went solo and made a bigger name for himself. Steve Stevens has been with Billy Idol since he went solo in 1982 and plays a mean guitar.

His guitar solo was awesome when I saw Idol live and Billy put on a great show, with "Mony Mony" being his encore which Billy drug out to a good fifteen minutes.
7. In 2006, I saw a band consisting of Jon, Richie, Tico, and David play in Des Moines, Iowa (one of many concerts I've seen in Des Moines). Not enough information? One more hint: New Jersey. This should be easy. Who did I see?

Answer: Bon Jovi

Jon Bon Jovi (vocals), Richie Sambora (guitar), Tico Torres (drums), and David Bryan (bass) make up Bon Jovi, a band from New Jersey who hit the mainstream with the 1986 album "Slippery When Wet" and the 1988 album "New Jersey." I'm sure just about everybody is familar with the song "Livin' on a Prayer," but Bon Jovi has also released "You Give Love a Bad Name," "It's My Life," and "Born to Be My Baby." Their "Have a Nice Day" Tour was highly successful and a fun show to attend.
8. At my next concert, Patrick Monahan took the stage with his band and by the end of the concert, he was inviting kids to come on stage and sing along with the songs, which included "Meet Virginia" and "Drops of Jupiter." Which fan-friendly band did I see now?

Answer: Train

Formed in 1994, Train released their self-titled album in 1998 and the highly successful "Drops of Jupiter" in 2001. The titular song from the album would win two Grammy Awards and Train would continue on with the 2003 album "My Private Nation." Shortly after I saw them in 2006, Train officially went on hiatus.

Not done yet, Train resurged in 2009 with the album "Save Me, San Francisco." They put on a good, fan-friendly show and I hope they come back to Iowa soon.

Answer: Rod Stewart

As you know from taking this quiz, I've seen all four of the choices in concert, but Rod Stewart is the man in question this time. His 1978 hit "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" was a classic, as was other hits "Maggie May," "Hot Legs," and "Rhythm of My Heart." His easily recognizable voice was almost taken away by thyroid cancer in 2000, but after surgery, he re-learned how to sing and came back better than ever. Still going strong after over 50 years in the music industry, not much will stop Rod Stewart now.

Answer: Blue Öyster Cult

Although the band formed in 1967, the name Blue Öyster Cult would not be established until 1971. They would release hits such as "Godzilla," "Astronomy," and "(Don't Fear) the Reaper" throughout the 1970s, but would decline in the 1980s with "Burnin' for You" being their only hit to note in that decade. Founding members Eric Bloom and Donald Roeser (better known as Buck Dharma) kept the band going and they occasionally go on tour.

Answer: Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Zombie

To clear up the question, "Iron Head" was featured on Rob Zombie's 2001 "The Sinister Urge" album. Rob Zombie was the lead singer of White Zombie, a band that formed in 1985 and released their highly popular album "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1" in 1992. Rob formed his solo band in 1998 and has released songs such as "Living Dead Girl," "Dragula," and "Never Gonna Stop." He is also an accomplished horror movie director. Ozzy Osbourne was in Black Sabbath from 1968 to 1979.

After being fired from the band for his drinking problems, Ozzy went solo and became more popular than Black Sabbath with hits such as "Crazy Train," "Mr. Crowley," and "Flying High Again," among many others.

He tours with his own band that includes guitarist Zakk Wylde. Rob Zombie stole the show the night I saw them, even though he said he was fighting a cold.

This 2007 show took place at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, where in 1982 Ozzy bit the head off of a live bat. My mother was in attendance for that show, but I wasn't even born yet.

It was nice to be at the scene of the crime, anyway.
12. I saw my next band in February of 2008, where there was certainly an "Eruption" in the crowd for the recent return of the band's lead singer who had originally gone solo in 1985. Sammy Hagar was certainly not in attendance for this show. Which band did I see this time?

Answer: Van Halen

One of my favorite concerts with Eddie Van Halen, his son Wolfgang, and Eddie's brother Alex, along with returning lead singer David Lee Roth. The band had major success in the late 1970s and that success culminated with their appropriately-named 1984 album "1984." David left the band because of tension within the group and Sammy Hagar became the group's lead singer in 1985. Hits from Van Halen include "Hot for Teacher," "Little Guitars," and "Jump," the latter of the three being their encore for the live show.

Answer: Billy Joel

I hope nobody said Liberace, as he died a few months before I was even born, and was therefore certainly not around in 2008. "Piano Man," Billy Joel's first hit, would serve as his nickname throughout his long and illustrious career. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Billy Joel would enjoy success with hits such as "Big Shot," "You May Be Right," and the brilliantly created "We Didn't Start the Fire." Billy Joel is famous for writing all of his songs, which put him in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 1992.

He was once married to model Christie Brinkley and has overcome depression and substance abuse.

Answer: Wynonna Judd

Wynonna Judd began her career by singing with her mother, Naomi. The Judds would debut in 1983 and record an astounding fourteen number one songs on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. They were the most popular and best-selling group in country music until Brooks & Dunn broke most of their records throughout the 1990s.

The Judds disbanded in 1991 after Naomi suffered from Hepatitis C, and Wynonna went solo in 1992. She was successful throughout the 1990s with hits like "I Saw the Light," "Girls with Guitars," and "Tell Me Why," the titular track from her platinum-selling 1993 album.

She is great on stage and loves to include the fans.

Answer: Metallica

This may be the only quiz in the world that features both Wynonna Judd and Metallica. For that, I'm proud. Founded in 1981 by singer/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, Metallica has stood the test of time and is the most commercially successful metal band of all-time.

The band was considered an "underground" band through the 1980s with epic albums such as "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets." It wouldn't be until 1991 when their fifth album, "Metallica," (informally called "The Black Album" by many fans) was released that the band would go mainstream. Kirk Hammett has been their guitarist since 1983 after replacing Dave Mustaine, who would later gain fame with Megadeth. Cliff Burton played bass until his tragic death in 1986. Jason Newsted played bass until 2001 until eventually Robert Trujillo was brought in.

Answer: Pat Benatar

With her distinct vocal range, Pat Benatar has set the bar high for all other female artists. Her 1979 debut album "In the Heat of the Night" introduced her to the world and her 1980 album "Crimes of Passion" made her a huge success with her trademark song "Hit Me with Your Best Shot." She doesn't care for the song mainly because it was deemed her trademark song and it is about a past abusive relationship that she was in.

Other songs she is known for include "Heartbreaker," "Fire and Ice," and "Love is a Battlefield." Her song "You Better Run" was the second music video ever aired on MTV, making Pat the first female artist ever to be featured in a music video on MTV.

She is married to her guitarist Neil "Spyder" Giraldo, whom I communicated with at one point during the show.

He later tried to throw me a guitar pick but overthrew. Pat puts on a great show and if you've never heard her sing "Hell is for Children" live, you're certainly missing out.
17. One of the great rock showmen played my first 2010 concert. As the former frontman of a "toxic" 1980s-early 1990s metal band, he announced to the crowd that we would all be videotaped and possibly put on an episode of "Celebrity Apprentice," a show he was participating on. Who was this?

Answer: Bret Michaels

Bret Michaels was the frontman for Poison and the band became one of the most popular glam metal groups of the 1980s and early 1990s with songs like "Talk Dirty to Me," "Unskinny Bop," and the power ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." He is a class act that is unfortunately plagued with health issues, including diabetes.

In 2010, he suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage but beat the odds and is back to his old form again. His show was one of the more fun ones I've been to, with "Nothin' But a Good Time" being a very fitting encore.

Answer: Elton John

That's Sir Elton John to you and me. The man born Reginald Dwight got into music in the 1960s and has seen more success than most. He is the most commercially successful singles male artist in music history and has had hit after hit, including "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting," "Rocket Man," and "I'm Still Standing." He also did a lot of music for the 1994 animated feature "The Lion King." When Princess Diana was killed in 1997, Elton John re-released "Candle in the Wind" with updated lyrics.

It would become the highest-selling single of all-time. Elton John does not play this version live out of respect for Princess Diana. Elton is a true showman who took time to sign autographs for people in the front row when I saw him. He even brought a kid onstage during "Crocodile Rock."

Answer: AC/DC

AC/DC was actually supposed to come to Des Moines in 2009, but Brian Johnson had an ulcer problem and they rescheduled to 2010. Des Moines was the last American show AC/DC played on their "Black Ice" tour. The band formed in 1973 and released countless hits, most notably "Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)," "Let There Be Rock," and "Highway to Hell." Lead singer Bon Scott died of a drug overdose in 1980 and Brian Johnson took the helm.

The 1980 "Back in Black" album is regarded as one of the greatest rock albums of all-time and let AC/DC fans know Bon Scott's death was not going to slow them down.

The band released "Black Ice" in 2008. Despite my mother and I having some of the worst seats imaginable, the show was unforgettable nonetheless and Angus Young is truly underrated as a guitarist. If there's only one band you ever see in your lifetime, I highly suggest it be AC/DC.

Answer: Taylor Swift

The old expression "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" best describes Taylor Swift. Originally from Pennsylvania, Taylor is an accomplished songwriter and started out writing poems and short stories. Most of her songs are about boys who have broken her heart in one way or another, although "The Best Day" was written for her mother and is a beautiful song.

Her other well-known songs include "Picture to Burn," "Hey Stephen," and "You Belong with Me." Her show was opened by Gloriana and Kellie Pickler. Taylor's presence is amazing, and she plays all over the arena, spending a good ten minutes hugging her fans, mainly her young female fan base.
