Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I've seen what you're doing to me, destroying puppet strings to our souls."

Answer: Micro Cuts

One of the shorter songs on the album, "Micro Cuts" is heavy on Matthew Bellamy falsettos with virtually the entire song being sung at a high register against a backdrop of baroque tones, heavy percussion, and rocking guitar. For the "XX Anniversary RemiXX" iteration of this track, the band included more prominent harpsichord in the verses, something they intended to have in the original version but which were muted before the original album was released.
2. "It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me."

Answer: Feeling Good

Originally performed as a signature song of Nina Simone, Muse's cover of "Feeling Good" manages to meet her level of quality with a sense of bombast that Muse can accomplish with ease. Released as a single alongside "Hyper Music", the track hit the UK Singles Chart at number twenty-four and went gold.

A live version was released on the band's "H.A.A.R.P." DVD in 2008. As a song, the track ended up being regarded by "NME" Magazine as the best rock cover of all time.
3. "You know that I don't want you and I never did."

Answer: Hyper Music

"Hyper Music" had a unique run as far as Muse songs go as it and "Feeling Good" shared their release as the album's fourth and final single despite being diametrically different. In 2002, Muse released an album of B-sides and live tracks called "Hullabaloo Soundtrack" and a new, lower-key version of the song, titled "Hyper Chondriac Music", was kept amongst those tracks.
4. "How much are you worth? You can't come down to earth."

Answer: New Born

The second single released from "Origin of Symmetry" but the first track to appear on the disc, "New Born" has been a concert staple since its debut, being a critical, recurring sound at Muse's massive live shows and representative of their bigger-than-humble beginnings. Featuring a characteristic riff that would join a catalogue of classic Muse sounds, the sound of "New Born" was originally used to test guitars during rehearsals in the band's earlier tours. Sometimes, the biggest hits are right under musicians' noses.

It hit number twelve on the UK Singles Chart.
5. "Making my heart feel sore 'cause it's good."

Answer: Darkshines

Carrying on with the Spanish influences of "Screenager" before it, "Darkshines" hits harder with the percussion throughout and carries with a heavier baseline. According to Matthew Bellamy in past interviews, the song is about falling in love with a mysterious woman with an unknown dark side. Considering the band's album themes going forward, one might consider this to be one of Muse's more grounded and humble songs.
6. "Take off your disguise. I know that underneath it's me."

Answer: Megalomania

"Megalomania" was the album closer for "Origin of Symmetry". One of the band's least-played songs in a live setting, it was nixed from later setlists because of its heavy reliance on the pipe organ as the key instrument in its production. The original version of the song was recorded using the pipe organ at the St Mary the Virgin Church in Bathwick, UK.

The remixed version of the song on "Origin of Symmetry: XX Anniversary RemiXX" is significantly more symphonic with sweeping strings and is considered one of the most transformed of the bunch.
7. "For one moment I wish you'd hold your stage with no feelings at all."

Answer: Citizen Erased

Positioned smack-dab in the middle of the "Origin of Symmetry", "Citizen Erased" is one of the heavier tracks on the disc as it leads into its chorus and it's no surprise that the band has seen recurring use of the song in their concert setlists, especially ones in support of albums with a more dramatic and harder rock edge like "The Resistance" and "Drones".

The remixed version of the track, made for "Origin of Symmetry (XX Anniversary RemiXX)", was the only single from that disc.
8. "Who you were was so beautiful."

Answer: Screenager

Unlike many of the other songs on "Origin of Symmetry", "Screenager" is played at a low tempo and with notes of Spanish guitar. Though a futuristic-sounding and fast piano can be heard through the chorus and the low sound of drums persist through the song, it's not the heavy-hitter that one may remember from the disc. Unlike a number of other tracks from this album, "Screenager" failed to make the cut in the band's later tour setlists, likely to give more prominence to lower-key tracks with more thematic ties to their later concepts and aesthetics.
9. "Everything about you is how I'd wanna be."

Answer: Bliss

The third single to be released, commercially, from "Origin of Symmetry", "Bliss" was another obvious heavy-hitter and one commonly brought back to represent the album on Muse's later tours. The track ended up reaching number twenty-two on the UK Singles Chart after releasing as a single in mid-2001.

The music video, one of four directed by eventual film director David Slade, featured singer Matthew Bellamy free-falling down a never-ending tunnel.
10. "I've exposed your lies, baby."

Answer: Plug In Baby

The lead single from "Origin of Symmetry", "Plug In Baby" peaked at number eleven on the UK Singles Chart, being the band's top single to date and their highest-charter until "Time is Running Out", released two years later from the "Absolution" album.

It ended up going gold in the UK. Another concert staple and one of the band's most-played songs in a live setting, "Plug In Baby's" opening riff is amongst the most recognizable of its time.
11. "You make me sick because I adore you so."

Answer: Space Dementia

Heavier on the piano, "Space Dementia" follows two of the album's more radio-ready rock tracks and was concert-ready for promotion of the "Origin of Symmetry" album but it ended up getting somewhat shelved as the band moved into their "Absolution" era.

This being said, elements of "Space Dementia" followed through when Muse released the "Black Holes and Revelations" album, getting integrated into the end of "Knights of Cydonia". While "Space Dementia" would eventually be pulled away from that song (and "Knights of Cydonia" would remain on their concert setlists indefinitely), it would be voted back time and time again as a perennial fan favourite.
