"Liar" was written by Freddie Mercury and is one of Queen's more dark and intense songs. It is the fifth song on their first album, "Queen" and runs at six minutes and 23 seconds.

This song was written by John Deacon on the "News Of The World" album. At four minutes and 34 seconds, it is a beautiful song (in my opinion, one of the greatest yet most underrated songs of all time) that is a story song, talking about a chap named Sammy, who works at The Emerald Bar and who wants to move on to something greater, but doesn't have the ambition.

The "gentleman" is Norman Sheffield, who used to be Queen's manager, but took advantage of his position and ripped Queen off, leaving four hardworking musicians in poverty while he went and bought a SECOND Rolls Royce. Talk about selfish!

Throughout the entire song, wind effects can be heard.
