Bon Scott, born in Scotland in 1946, migrated to Western Australia with his family in 1952. Lead singer of AC/DC from 1974 to 1980, he died in London in 1980, and is buried at the Fremantle Cemetery. There is a statue of him in the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, which is visited by numerous tourists every year.

Born September 8, 1932, Patsy Cline was buried in Winchester, VA, in 1963 following her death at age 30 in a plane crash. Considered one of the most influential women of music, her life has been the subject of movies, plays, books and even a U.S. postage stamp! Visit Winchester in early September to attend an annual tribute and meet her family. She continues to receive accolades and sell music decades after her death.

Johnny O'Keefe (1935-1978) was known throughout Australia as our 'King of Rock & Roll'. That concert, with Johnny & his band the Dee Jays opening, also featured Little Richard, Gene Vincent & the Blue Caps, plus Eddie Cochran. Johnny's first record (You Hit the Wrong Note, Billy Goat) had been suggested to Johnny by none other than Bill Haley, who met Johnny several times during Haley's January 1957 tour of Australia. Col, Lucky & Lonnie (early Oz rockers) are still with us as of October 2010.

Brian Timothy (Tim) Finn (b.25 June 1952) and Cornelius Mullane (Neil) Finn were both born in this North Island town well-known for its dairy farming industry. Split Enz disbanded in 1984 but have reunited several times over the years. Neil went on to great fame and success with Crowded House, a band which Tim later joined for a time.

The band was struck by tragedy when drummer Paul Hester committed suicide in 2005, after a long battle with depression. Crowded House released an album "Intriguer" in 2009 with Beck drummer Matt Sherrod replacing Hester.
