Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

FYI - All incorrect songs were from 1968.

1. "Shadow Dancing" (Andy Gibb) was written by Barry, Robin, Maurice and Andy Gibb. Andy Gibb became the first solo artist in the history of the U.S. pop charts to have his first three singles hit number one. While Gibb would have three more Top Ten hits in the U.S., this would be his final number-one hit in the United States.

2. "Night Fever" (Bee Gees) was written and performed by the Bee Gees. It first appeared on the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever". It would be the third of six consecutive US number ones for the band, tying the Beatles for the record for most consecutive number one singles (surpassed by Whitney Houston who scored seven consecutive number ones).

3. "You Light Up My Life" (Debby Boone) was written by Joseph Brooks for the soundtrack album to the 1977 film of the same title. The best-known cover version of the song is this record by Debby Boone, the daughter of singer Pat Boone.

4. "Stayin' Alive" (Bee Gees) was written and performed by the Bee Gees for the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. In the US, it would become the second of six consecutive number-one singles, tying the record with the Beatles for most consecutive number ones in the US at the time (eclipsed by Whitney Houston).

5. "Kiss You All Over" (Exile) was written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn. It proved to be Exile's only big hit on the pop charts however they would later have great success on the country music charts.

6. "How Deep Is Your Love" (Bee Gees) was written and recorded by the Bee Gees. It stayed in the Top Ten for 17 weeks, becoming the first song to spend 17+ weeks in the Top Ten since Chubby Checker's "The Twist".

7. "Baby Come Back" (Player) was written by Peter Beckett and J.C. Crowley. The song was used in the Michael Bay blockbuster "Transformers" when the Autobot Bumblebee communicates with its new owner Sam Witwicky through songs on the radio.

8. "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" (Andy Gibb) was written by Barry and Andy Gibb. As evidence of the Gibb brothers' U.S. chart domination in 1978, Barry Gibb is the only person in history to write four consecutive US number-one singles.

9. "Boogie Oogie Oogie" (A Taste of Honey) was written by Janice-Marie Johnson and Perry Kibble. It topped the US pop, soul and disco charts, and it became the first certified platinum single in history for Capitol Records. The group also won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the 20th Grammys.

10. "Three Times a Lady" (Commodores) was written by lead singer Lionel Richie. The song was the first number-one single for The Commodores and was nominated for two Grammy Awards, for Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus.

11. "Grease" (Frankie Valli) was written by Barry Gibb and performed by Frankie Valli. It is the title song for the 1978 musical motion picture "Grease". It remains Valli's most recent hit to reach the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.

12. "I Go Crazy" (Paul Davis) was written, composed, and recorded by American singer-songwriter Paul Davis. It spent 40 weeks (nine months and one week) on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, setting what was then the record for the longest-ever run on that chart.

13. "You're the One That I Want" (John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John) was written by John Farrar for the 1978 film version of the musical "Grease". It is one of the best-selling singles in history, having sold over six million copies in the US, the United Kingdom, and France alone, with estimates of more than 15 million copies sold overall.

14. "Emotion" (Samantha Sang) was written by Barry and Robin Gibb. It was first recorded by Australian singer Samantha Sang, whose version reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978. The song was Sang's only hit single.

15. "Lay Down Sally" (Eric Clapton) was written by Eric Clapton, Marcy Levy and George Terry. It is a country-blues song that reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single was a crossover country music hit, reaching Number 26, Clapton's best showing on the Hot Country Songs chart.
