Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I want it all. Don't stop givin'"

Answer: Talk

It was mid-2019 when Two Door Cinema Club released their fourth studio album, "False Alarm", which took on a more eclectic aesthetic from the jump and pushed their already indie stylings into a jauntier space. The first single of the album, "Talk", released online and to radios in March of that year featured a music video reflecting the album's artwork-- bright colours and odd imagery. "False Alarm" would subsequently hit number five on the UK Albums Chart, matching "Gameshow's" peak.
2. "What would you say? What would you say? What would you do?"

Answer: Sun

The second single to make it off the "Beacon" album, "Sun" is somewhat unlike all of the band's more uptempo classics and it reflects a certain change, or perhaps a maturity, between their first and second albums. The general vibe shift would persist in their next two singles, the album's opening tracks, "Next Year" and "Handshake", both of which were officially made into singles in 2013 and helping push "Beacon" into Platinum-level sales in the UK.

"Beacon" ultimately made it to number two on the UK Albums Chart and number one in Ireland. It was also the highest-charting release for the band in the U.S.
3. "A longer sentence brings no more than one that I had said before"

Answer: I Can Talk

Two Door Cinema Club's second charting single, "I Can Talk", released to radios in late 2009, and while it didn't succeed quite so well as their debut, it still managed to crack Platinum status as a track shortly after.

Partnering with French directorial team MEGAFORCE for their music video, the short song is accompanied, online, by visuals that make it appear as though the band is constantly performing unbelievable illusions in a dark, frenetic theatre. MEGAFORCE is also known for videos for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' track "Sacrilege" and Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin", and they provided art direction as a whole for both "Tourist History" and "Beacon", Two Door's sophomore album.
4. "You don't want to be alone"

Answer: What You Know

Across 2010, Two Door Cinema Club would release two more singles from "Tourist History"-- "Undercover Martyn" and "Come Back Home"-- neither of which would reach the heights of their fifth and final single from the album, "What You Know", which debuted on radios in 2011 to close out the promotional run of the album.

The first track from the band to chart in the U.S. (at number forty on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart), it also went multi-platinum in the UK. The track epitomizes UK indie rock of the era with its upbeat, instantly recognizable riff.

It became a concert staple as soon as it released; it's the type of song that the whole crowd at Glastonbury or Reading & Leeds can sing along to.
5. "Set the reaction; ticket to ride; reckless abandon; time on your side"

Answer: Satellite

The second single to appear on the band's fourth studio album, "False Alarm", "Satellite", featuring a "Star Trek-inspired" music video, gives itself more liberty to dance than a lot of typical Two Door Cinema Club songs, even if it doesn't leverage Trimble's falsetto quite like the songs from "Gameshow". Like the other tracks from "False Alarm", "Satellite" failed to chart with any significance.

The band followed the single up with "Dirty Air" and "Once" to close out the album's promotional run.
6. "Oh, we've made a mistake. We've lost our minds. We've lost our memory"

Answer: Are We Ready? (Wreck)

After Two Door Cinema Club was acquired by Parlophone, the band didn't make another album for three years, finally releasing "Gameshow" in 2016 and attempting to deviate from their earlier sound by incorporating more unexpected genres and styles into their songs. "Are We Ready? (Wreck)", the first single from the album, was the only one to chart in the UK despite the album's modest success overall (cracking number five on the UK Albums Chart). Across 2016 they would release another three singles, and then one more in 2017 before closing out this album cycle.
7. "...they're just ghosts and they can't hurt him if he can't see them"

Answer: Sleep Alone

With the band's indie success secured coming out of their first album, Two Door Cinema Club released "Beacon" in 2012, launching with the first single being "Sleep Alone" (which went to radio in late August of that year). Though not as heavy-hitting as some of their earlier hits, "Sleep Alone" was modestly successful, especially in the U.S. where it peaked at number nineteen on Billboard's US Alternative Airplay Chart (and number thirty-two on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart).

One of the lyrics from the song, "we only know what we see", was co-opted for the title of documentary the band filmed to coincide with the release of "Beacon". "What We See" was released in four parts alongside the music video for this track.
8. "And when you say you won't forget me well I can tell you that's untrue"

Answer: Changing of the Seasons

After Two Door Cinema Club switched record labels from Kitsune to Parlophone in 2013, the "Changing of the Seasons" EP was the first fruit of that labour, allowing the band to push out a new single during their hiatus between full albums. "Changing of the Seasons", the title track, turned out to be one of their top-charting singles to date, managing to crack number thirty-three on the UK Singles Chart despite not being a major release. Though the band originally wrote the track during their "Beacon" recordings, it ended up on the cutting room floor.

It outperformed the majority of the singles from that disc.
9. "Took a little time to make it a little better. It's only going up, just one thing and another"

Answer: Something Good Can Work

The band's first single, and one of the many upbeat crowd-pleasers from their debut album, "Tourist History", "Something Good Can Work" released to radios in the UK in April 2009, bringing them what would inevitably be their first UK Platinum track. Interestingly, the song was recorded alongside the b-side "Do You Want It All?", both of which came out in advance of the formal album's recording in London's newly-built Eastcote Studios.

The music video, filmed in the Canary Islands, wouldn't show up online until two years after, at which point "Tourist History" had already seen a year of sales.
10. "We all get it wrong, so don't stay mad for long"

Answer: Wonderful Life

Pushing into the 2020s with their fifth album, Two Door Cinema Club transitioned with the times; "Keep On Smiling", which released in 2022, managed to hit number seventeen on the UK Album Downloads Chart, prompting the band to make a shift into digital single releases and avoid being too hasty on full EP/LP launches. "Wonderful Life", an upbeat single that came out in early 2022 in advance of the album, kicked off this disc's promotional effort as the world came out of the COVID-19 pandemic. They followed it up with "Lucky", "Everybody's Cool", and "Millionaire".
