It is believed that Euclid taught in Alexandria between the years 323 and 285 BC. He authored 13 versions of "The Elements", and large portions of modern geometry are attributed to his early findings. In fact, most geometry taught in schools is referred to as "Euclidean Geometry".

Turing, whose biopic was the Award-Winning "The Imitation" game starring Benedict Cumberbatch, was one of the great geniuses of the 20th century. His work at Bletchley Park during World War II led to the development of the "Universal Turing Machine". He died in humiliating fashion after he was persecuted by the British authorities for his homosexual acts.

Korolev was the chief rocket engineer and spacecraft designer for the USSR during the great "Space Race" of the Cold War. He was sent to Germany shortly following the fall of Berlin in order to assess the viability and technology of German Rockets and projectiles.

He would return to the USSR and head the "Vostok" Space program, which led to the first living Earthling in space (Laika) and the first man in space (Yuri Gagarin). He died prematurely due to a botched surgical procedure in 1966.

While poor and relatively unknown for the majority of his troubled life, Van Gogh is considered one of the most gifted painters and artists of all time by contemporary critics. Perhaps infamous for cutting off his ear and gifting it to a prostitute, Van Gogh struggled with mental illness his entire life before he committed suicide by gunshot wound at the age of 37.

Jane Austen was born into relative comfort, the 7th child of an Anglican rector at a local church. Her father, Oxford educated, had a large library that he encouraged his children to explore. Jane began writing as a young girl, and it was her brother who encouraged her to publish "Sense & Sensibility" in 1811 under anonymity. Jane never married, and cared for her parents before dying of disease in 1817 at 41.
