Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Welcome! The first portion of the food's stay will begin at the Mouth Lobby. Here the food will be masticated into small, fun-size pieces to begin its fun ride. Woo, it is beginning to fall down into a long tunnel. There are two tubes but luckily, one of them shuts off and the food is travelling down the other one, called Oesophagus Lane. What was the little flap concealing behind it?
2. At the end of Oesophagus Lane you will find a large room, Stomach Saloon. The food will go for a heavenly cruise (perhaps with a loved one, or the Your Body complementary food chunks) in the lovely stomach juices. Now the food will be turned into a wonderful substance called 'chyme' to ready it for the future stays at different segments of Your Body Hotel. Which of these descriptions better defines chyme?
3. Yee-ha! After the stomach it's time for a long ride in a narrow tunnel, also known as the Small Intestine Way. Here the food will travel down in comfort first in the Duodenum Sector and then the Jejunum Heaven! There is also another part of Small Intestine Way it will need to visit (here it will be able to purchase 'I Heart Small Intestine' T-shirts and Duodenum bobble heads at the Gift Shop!). What is the name of the other segment of Small Intestine Way?
4. The next part of the food's stay is in a roomier place, it is the Large Intestine Space. Here is where the food begins to transform into that delightful substance called faeces! The Large Intestine Space is made up of the colon, which has four parts. The first three, and the largest, are Ascending Colon Highway, Transverse Colon Pleasure and Descending Colon Triumph. Which is the fourth, and last colon?
5. It is the food's turn to exit the rectum. The last couple just went out the little tunnel, looking pleased but a little mournful that their time had come to leave. The food sees a little light outside as you move forward to leave Your Body Hotel. It is finally squeezed out, it is not easy, Your Body Hotel seems to be using its 'muscles' to push it out. The food finds itself a little stuck. Where is it stuck right now?
6. The part of the food that has no benefits for the Your Body Hotel has left us, but its kind donations are preparing for their dispersion. The nutrients that were once inside the food are now travelling to a body organ, also known as the 'Your Body Hotel Donation Dispersal and Aiding Department'. What is this sharer of nutrients called to the boring people outside our hotel?
-No offence.
7. Now for the fine print that the Your Body managers 'forgot' to notify the food of before it entered their hotel.
As the food entered Stomach Saloon it was given the false impression that it would be welcomed like old friends. Well, watch out, vacationers! The Stomach Saloon is not all it seems, when it gets upset, watch out for the stomach's angry tantrums where he has been known to ruthlessly hurl food out of its 'saloon', giving the food no refund whatsoever as it flows out Mouth Lobby in a rather less graceful way than it came in! What is Stomach Saloon doing right now?
8. Sometimes, Your Body Hotel's digestive system will decide to stop allowing visitors exitting from the place (the food should be relieved, shouldn't it?). This is known as constipation. It happens when whilst the food is having a fun time in the large intestine, Large Intestine Space gets greedy and it absorbs too much of the food's water, making it into a harder than preferable piece of faeces. Which of these is NOT a cause of why this might happen?
9. In the Mouth Lobby, when food remains, blood and/or saliva are broken down, this causes something nasty that can make the food's stay at Your Body a bad experience. What happens when the putrefaction (breaking down of the food by bacteria in the Mouth Lobby) is going on?
10. During the trip at Your Body Hotel, when the food is in Small Intestine Way, it notices that despite what it says on the pamphlet, it's nutrients are not being absorbed! False advertising, it asks? Well, no, there is a malfunction. Which of these is it likely to be?
