Answer: Babe Ruth

The Babe hit 60 home runs in 1927 with the Yankees. This almost unreachable record was touched by Roger Maris, who hit 61 with the Yankees in 1961.
2. The Angels took the torch as World Series Champions in 2002. What 2001 World Series Champion did they take the torch from?

Answer: Arizona Diamondbacks

Arizona beat the Yankees in the 2001 promised land, 4 games to 3. In the Series, there were co-MVPs, in the pitchers of Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. The other teams listed, had not seen a World Series in over 10 years.

Answer: Willie Mays

The 'Say Hey Kid' was inducted into the Hall in 1979. In a glorious career mostly with the Giants, Mays had many titles. From batting, to runs, to 2 MVP's, 4 home run titles, to 3 triples titles. The others listed, were amongst the first to be inducted in 1936.

Answer: Ernie Banks

His first season as a Yankee he hit 54 home runs, surpassing his season best in 1919 of 29. He retired in 1935 in his final season with the Boston Braves, where he hit his final 6, of 714 big ones.

Mordecia Peters Centennial 'Three Fingers' Brown, pitched in the National League and Federal League from 1903-1916, mostly with the Cubs. He led the league 4 times in games saved, once with most wins, and also had an ERA crown. He also has 5 World Series wins to his credit.

Answer: Cy Young

Denton True 'Cy' Young, not surprising has the most with 316 losses. He pitched in almost twice as many games as the other pitchers listed. In 22 seasons, Young had a record of 511-316, mostly with the Spiders of Cleveland and the Red Sox. All others listed, retired with less than 175 losses.
